After years of reliable use, this scanner causes freezing and crashes after the Mac OS Sonoma 14.4 update. Maybe a thorough testing during the apha release to developers would have been wise...
  • Memory Hog

This app is a memory hog. It doesn't release memory unless the app is quit and restarted. Then, after some time it needds to be quit and restarted again. Wish this wasn't a big memory hog, as it slows down my imac M1.

Last update says M1 Compatibility yet if you go to your system report it is still listed as Intel? An no updates for 10 months? Monterey is out no updates? Is this abandoned software?
  • Bitdefender won’t update and slows computer

When I receive updates for this program, it will not update. The waring says some of it’s extensions are in use by Safari and need to be turned off. It refuses to Quit. So it can’t be updated unless I delete it. The other thing I have noticed is that with it doing continuous scan it slows down my MAC when I’m working. Sometimes it is intolerable and I have to turn off continuous scan to upload items onto my computer. The inability to update is now a major issue and this program may have to be replaced.

I have been using it for years now. It catches malware that other products fail to catch. I have it running on all my computers now and it works without a flaw. I tried the free version and it catch some malware other products I was having trouble with and other malware removers could not detect. That is when I bought it. It has caught additional malware since I bought the pay version. The pay version scans continuously in the back ground, as the free version only scans when I select it to scan. It does not slow the computer down at all. I love it and would reccomend it to anyone.
  • High Memory Usage with Last Update needs to be fixed

Last update (3.16) caused high app memory usage (approx. double the RAM memory usage on MacOS Sierra 10.12.6). Previously it would take around 300-400mb, now it’s around 800-1000mb of which 10% of it is compressed…Please fix this memory leak ASAP.

The five star reviews are almost all four years old. The recent reviews are almost all one or two stars.
  • Used to be a good program

This has fallen behind the Mojave update. To get this to work you have to do that in-and-out crap of going into the Finder and letting it have absolute freedom to your Privacy settings. I've seen this happen with a few other apps and programs, yet so many others seem to get around it. Avoid.
  • Constant bugs

While this app has caught some malicous items in email attachments, recently all of my Macs start getting messages about VSP needing whole disk access permissions it already has. Remove and re-add permissions does nothing, delete (with an app cleaner) and then reinstalling does nothing. Very annoying to be met with VSP warnings every time I wake a machine.
  • Crashes other programs when running

The program finds malware but offers no support or hints about what to do when you find them ... in particular the files that give you a "cannot delete" message when you try to delete them. Also, I found that the app crashes other programs (especially Mac Mail) when "continous scan" is running in the background. Can I please get a refund?
