Description

Using a question-and-answer format, Private Pilot Checkride lists the questions most likely to be asked by examiners during the last step in the pilot certification process – the Practical Exam – and provides succinct, ready responses. Pilots will find this App an indispensable tool in both planning for what to expect during the airplane checkride, and mastering the subject matter. Instructors rate them as excellent preparation for students, as well as preps for Flight Reviews, aircraft transitions, and as general refresher material. This Private Pilot Checkride app is based on the popular Private Oral Exam Guide book by Michael Hayes. It is designed for student pilots training for the Private Pilot Certificate. More than 800 questions and responses ensure all the subjects a Private Pilot candidate will be tested on during checkrides and review flights are covered. Topics include: pilot qualifications, airworthiness requirements, weather information, cross-country flight planning, national airspace system, performance and limitations, operation of systems, human factors, preflight procedures, airport operations, night operations, postflight procedures and scenario-based training. Answers and explanations were researched using FAA documents (which are identified so pilots know where to go for further study) as well as interviewing FAA examiners. Questions can be marked for further study from any subject to build your own collection of flashcards. An Applicant Practical Test Checklist and quick-reference to the Private Pilot maneuvers and tolerances (as defined in the Airman Certification Standards) are also included. Compatible with iOS phones and tablets, this app teaches applicants not only what to expect, but also how to exhibit subject mastery and confidence when under the examiner’s scrutiny. It identifies candidates’ strengths, weaknesses, and gaps in their aeronautical knowledge, which increases study efficiency. App features: • More than 800 questions are included with succinct, ready responses. • Questions from any subject can be flagged for further study into a separate group. • Includes all the questions and answers from the popular book, Private Pilot Oral Exam Guide by Michael Hayes. • Brought to you by a trusted resource in aviation training and publishing, Aviation Supplies & Academics (ASA).

  • Needs a random quiz feature

This is a great resource but I don’t want to tap left or right through 50 pages of questions to get through to more challenging questions. Please create either a shuffle feature or a way to randomize questions to make studying more interesting and challenging

When will the app be updated to reflect the latest edition?
  • Good for preparation

It’s a good app that helps a lot to prepare for your check-ride. The questions cover everything you may get by your examiner. However don’t only rely on it to prepare, have your manuals ready to read... would be better with more frequent update.
  • Disappointed!!

App has great subject matter, but it does this horrible thing where it randomly clears out the ‘marked’ questions, not allowing you to review any questions you need to study

People who made the app needs understand the needs of people who are studying.... the whole app is no more then just flash cards, in stead of books with interactive function such as highlight, note and write footnote.
  • Great app, please update!

It's a great app. Wish it was updated so that the pages match the newest edition of the book (some pages are missing here, I believe this app is based on the older book).

This was helpful in getting my PPL. I studied using this app months in advance before the check ride. Explanations are ok but the majority of the time I found myself searching outside the app for information to augment understanding. When your at that point of not knowing what to study for, use this app because it is a good source of questions.
  • Meh.

This is a straight port from the book to an app. While it's handy to have on my phone and hides the answers (flash card style), they could have spent more than 10 minutes importing the data into the app. For example, there is a question asking to "define the following" that has no data. Te book has it broken down this way too, but it makes sense in a book and not in the app. They could have randomized the questions too. It's EXACTLY the same order as the book.
