Although this app has a positive side, which you don’t need internet to use. However, the sequence of the questions are always random and doesn’t keep your progress nor does it provide any reports of performance.
  • Awful for rotorcraft students

There’s a large number of fixed-wing specific questions in the rotorcraft section.

  • New update is incredibly inconvenient

The app was decent prior to the new update, but now the correct answers are no longer shown in green when grading an unanswered practice test. This makes studying extremely time consuming and not worth the money.
  • Dark Mode Broken

Dark mode breaks the look of the app with latest versions of iOS and iPadOS. Otherwise a great study tool.
  • 97% on Instrument Written

I read all the reviews and was nervous because many people said this did not adequately prepare them for the written exam. I spent just one week on the app and when I took the test for the first time on September 26, 2019 I got 97%. The app does not have identical questions to the FAA test, and that’s okay. It’s not supposed to. You are supposed to learn how the systems work and know how to apply them to any situation. This app does a great job of giving examples, and if you actually study what you are supposed to learn, you will pass the test easily. The skill of being a good pilot is not about having wrote memory and just regurgitating answers from an app. Use this as a tool to become a good pilot and you’ll do fine on the test.

After taking about 50 practice exams with this program and scoring in the 80s-90s I felt very confident that I would do well on the written. Took the test today (Sep. 26 2019) and saw about three questions on the actual test that I saw in all the practice exams and study sessions. I squeaked by and passed but was really disappointed to see over 55 questions that I had never seen before. Very sad because ASA was key to passing my private written but i think I’ll be going with another software company from here out. Highly recommend you don’t use this app as your sole study source for the instrument written.

The private was on point, I recommend alternative means for instrument studying.
  • UPDATE THIS ASAP

ASA is losing credibility having not updated such an important app for such a long time. Barely any questions on here filter through to the actual written!
