The people at Sonos must live in a bubble. I’ll bet they don’t even use Sonos in their own home. Just unusable. Didn’t they field test this thing?
  • Sonos no longer supports older speakers!

After many hours of hair-pulling, teeth-gnashing and almost tearful FRUSTRATION trying be able to control our Sonos 1 and Play 5 speakers which we loved and have had since 2013 and 2014, we finally gave up. They initially worked beautifully. We even purchased a new router thinking that might be an issue. What a huge waste of money and time! Turns out that Sonos did announce some time back (about the time we started having trouble) that they would no longer support their older speakers. How is that ethical or even sustainable? Their speakers are not cheap. So now, we have been forced to bail on perfectly good speakers because they no longer support their older ones forcing you to purchase new speakers? The speakers are still perfect except for the inability to stay connected to WiFi and control them now? Wow. No, no and just NOPE!!! Returned new router (not the issue) and headed to Bose. NO SONOS, we will NOT be purchasing newer and more expensive speakers from a company who bails on supporting their products after a few years. Headed to Bose and going with Bluetooth tech over WiFi control. We suspected trouble might be coming when they lost the ability to control volume with phone side buttons (as in Bluetooth). That was some years back, though. Had they continued support, we would have purchased even more speakers from them as we did greatly enjoy the sound quality. So glad we did not purchase more speakers, as I have read sad reviews of many who invested thousands of dollars in Sonos speakers only to have them lose control over them. Wow. Shocked, dismayed and greatly disappointing that the producer of such a high quality and expensive speaker would kick their faithful and long-time customers to the curb. Shame, shame on Sonos!

I cannot update my systemfor the life of me (Play 5 Gen 1) I keep getting error code 30. I’ve tried factory resetting it, connecting it to a different accounts, even using another device to update it and it still won’t update, which I cannot even use the speaker I PAID FOR until it’s updated. It’s on version 11.14. I’ve tried for multiple days to update it, and many different ways to aswell, and they all failed with the same error code 30. I will not be buying any Sonos products in the future and I will be sticking with JBL and Bose. Sonos is a big letdown 👎

Worked marvelously for years until the last update, now virtually unusable. Can’t find the system no matter what combination of methods. Sincerely sorry I wasted my money.
  • App never works

The app has an update daily that will take 20-30 min and then still won’t work properly.

Used to be great brand but will go down as one of the biggest company kill failures in history. They keep trying to destroy Sonos instead of letting a great thing be. After thousands of dollars over the years, I won’t be buying any more products though because it’s too unreliable now because of constant software changes. Hardware was fine but they screw it up with constant updates. I just want to listen to my music. Who is running this company now, and can they ever fix it?
  • Changing email address

Customer service is terrible. Told me there is no way to change my email address without totally deleting my entire system and starting over. Ridiculous. How hard can it be with today’s technology.
  • Useless

The Sonos S1 closes after a few seconds, rendering me unable to use older “Connect” module. The Connect is not compatible with later Sonos app. How do I still use this expensive product?
  • Every update brings new problems

Every time I update I have to spend several hours trouble shooting, and sometimes my speakers just stop working. Customer support seems just as frustrated. Things have gone off the rails at Sonos on the last couple years.

The latest update completely lost my dozen or so components, and it cannot find my system. I have an older system that worked perfectly one day and is 100% disabled the next. You buy the hardware from Sonos, but you have zero rights to the driving software. You are a borrower, a beggar for the technology to use their products that you paid for. This has happened many times with updates over the years, but this time the worst. Never buy Sonos is my advice.
