Meetup for Organizers

Can’t hardly do anything in this app. There not even a way to ask for help. Really frustrating for a new organizer and a total turnoff. I’m ready to just give up on this. They keep pushing me to upgrade but I’m so fed up why would I even entertain the idea of paying when the experience has been so bad this far. Really Meetup? You used to be great but now you just ask for money at every turn. So sad.

The app glitches a lot… especially when writing details for events. It will auto paste previous event details into the box as you are typing. Also there are things you can’t do on the app that you just do on a computer which isn’t the most convenient. I feel like everything you can do in the meetup app with out the organizer app… it’s kinda weird.

This app has been a lot of trouble since I started. this app often tells me that I am not connected to the Internet. Which is not true. It has a lot of glitches often enough, and not helpful to an organizer.

Hard to edit event details. Can set a recurring event to recur weekly or monthly, but can’t set recurrence to every 7 weeks.

This is by far the buggiest app I use. When you’re writing an event description, it will randomly copy everything you’ve written and and paste it into your description so you have everything double. When you are creating an event, as you move through entering information for the different parts, it will randomly change things you’ve entered like the time of the event, the day of the event, whether or not people can bring guests, etc. Unless you are extremely careful in checking and rechecking everything multiple times over the course of creating the event, you are likely to post an event with incorrect information. There is no reason that I should have to enter the settings for my event, have the app randomly change them, and then have to re-enter them.

Seems like always something that doesn’t work correctly.

Please disclose what bugs your actually fixing. Some of us don’t want to update to another buggy version if you haven’t fixed the bugs we are dealing with. Check in is still ridiculously broken on 2024.7.x and before. Half of the people unmark after you check them in.

Please invest in User Experience Research and Design. The fact that an organizer needs to use two apps to manage events, communicate, or do just about anything makes using this app very difficult. Any UX professional that performed user journeys would quickly learn how difficult this platform is. I’m already preparing to migrate my group to Facebook, which is also FREE. There is no benefit to an organizer for paying to manage a group other than the opportunity to volunteer our time and improve Meetups signup data. Please do better.

The iOS apps and desktop website have so many annoying little bugs I was already fed up with the platform and now 6months of an organizer subscription is moving to $179. Basically they’re pushing out the small and casual or free organizers and honestly it wasn’t worth it to begin with but this sealed the deal. I’m gonna try out Eventbrite and a couple other platforms now. Byyyyeeeeeee

When writing up event descriptions, the content will duplicate itself. VERY annoying to have to continually go in to delete sentences that for some reason duplicate by themselves. I have also had members tell me, and I’ve noticed it being in other meetup groups, that the notifications don’t work much anymore. The app is going downhill and making it difficult to schedule events because no one seems to hear about them. And YES, our notifications are on. The fees for this app are going up but yet the service and reliability are going down. This is why I see many meetups moving to Facebook groups.
