  • Terrible app.

Just look at how desperate this platform is! Spamming with completely irrelevant 'suggestions' we can't turn off. Suggestions take up half the screen. It's redundant and unasked for. Why implement this like a bunch of desperate amateurs? Garbage service that censures info if you don't update all the new profile/account requirements - even if they're irrelevant to you. There is no way this app can possibly have 5-Stars. All I've ever heard from organizers and members, including myself as an organizer, are complaints. I've even witnessed retaliation by Meetup's staff when organizers provided negative feedback. This app continues to fall short of expectations and is now imposing advertisements when RSVPing. Shame Apple must have deleted negative reviews and joined the ranks of other corrupt app ratings like Yelp. Edit: Dev says ads are 'to fund improvements without raising prices'. What improvements? What additional funding is necessary? Meetup sold out to a large corporation (passed about like a *). Just stupid lies and non-existent deliverance. Prove me wrong!
  • An app designed by clowns with huge cost per week

You figure after 15 years that Meetup would get its act together and learn how to actually build an app that works… Now Meetup says I’m not signed up for any events when I am signed up for multiple events. Further, you can no longer see any participant but at least their front and center with $14.99 a week to use their service. Are you trying to kill the company? Still nothing works can, RSVP blank, screens says I have no messages, when I have many messages… But at least there’s F U pay me $15 a week fee. I don’t know how Apple allows this app on its store.
  • Needs Access to Full Calendar

Why does this app need access to my full calendar? It is mining your data. One star!
  • Paywalls everywhere

Now you basically have to subscribe to use the app, turned into a dating app for friends that people can just connect with in real life. There’s no reason to pay for what’s behind paywalls. This is the end of Meetup, too bad because it was nice-ish while it lasted.
  • Too expensive

I don’t like the new changes that cost more money. And Meetups are being charged way too much.
  • So buggy and slow

Between the app and website, I get so frustrated. iOS: Links open in the app and then take you to Safari. What, why? macOS: Links in emails take you to the site in Safari with an error that the page wasn’t found. Searching for a group that you know exists and you’re already a member of turns up no results. The home page on desktop doesn’t show your events that you’ve signed up for. Finding what your next event is (that you signed up for) is a chore. Instead of fixing all this, they’re adding features that are premium—despite no one wanting them. I use the app and site bc it’s the de facto standard. Otherwise, I’d run from it fast. I also dropped my sub as an organizer. Too. Many. Issues.
  • app still does not allow users to submit complaints

every time I try to report a user for TOS violations (spam accounts, abusive messaging) it just tells me there was an error submitting a report. It has been this way for many update versions. I have complained about this to tech support and they say that they are aware of the problem and yet they never fix it.
  • I don’t want to subscribe

Now Meetups ransomed it features for a subscription fee. I’ve been a loyal member for over 8 years and have always paid my fees for each group, now they are trying to reach into my wallet for more.
  • Not working

The app not working. Keep reloading. And never. Star it
  • Site is okay, app is not

The app invariably shows only various error messages. One can only surmise that the developers must be dealing with a great deal of technical debt.
