Expensive with ads?

The app itself is top notch. The dictionary also. However without warning, the app I paid a considerable amount of money for throws an ad in front of me at exactly the time I’m engaged in it. Will not be renewing.

This seems to be “The Readers Digest “ version of a dictionary. I just renewed my license and now I am regretting it.

Great Dictionary with a lot of ads

This is by far the most expansive dictionary, but has a ridiculous amount of ads on the free version. When it comes to archaic words, non-American spellings, and other wise unique phrases, this is the best dictionary. However, if you occasionally need to find a definition or pronunciation, you shouldn’t use this dictionary, the ads will drive you mad.

While I love the variety of definitions, and the setup of the app, I wish there was a pronunciation for free. I also wish that you could search for things like synonyms or antonyms of words.

My Favourite Dictionary But A Greedy App

The dictionary is great and the app works well, but they've started pushing not only for money for a premium version, but specifically a subscription. There are way too many subscriptions lately. The worst part is that they've taken existing features and locked them behind premium instead of just coming up with new added features to be premium. You can't listen to the audio files of words anymore without premium, and if you do click the button you get a full pop-up that you have to close as opposed to a small notification or just turning the button off entirely. I also had an ad appear after a certain number of definitions, which hasn't happened to me before, and while I haven't encountered anything yet, it says that premium gives "unlimited definitions" so now I fear they may have put a limit on how many times you can even use it. That and I thought the offline download was free or maybe a one time payment, but now it's just a subscription. Knowledge should not be gatekept and while I understand a need to make money, it seems to me like they're doing too much when they've been running for free with these features for so long. Companies always choose profits over people.

it’s dictionary app even if you download the app you could just go online and find a dictionary or read a physical dictionary to find all the meaning and thesaurus without have to pay for a subscription if you don’t want to buy the book go online a search engine type the word you want to find the meaning of and it will pop up most likely before your done spelling it I just don’t see why you need to charge money for something people already get for free and on top of that highly doubt anybody actually reads anymore because there to busy rotting on social media I’m not 50 years old I’m 16 btw and also people who like reading probably won’t do it on a device cuz they’re smart enough to know they’ll be forced to pay a subscription or because they’re smart enough like reading they probably know most words so they don’t need dictionary’s just make it free or people will start deleting the app.
Cannot sign up with library card

Do you seriously think I would pay money for this, knowing every year it will go up more and more? I would certainly sign up with my library card for it though. It’s high-quality and everything, but it’s not or a basic necessity in life to pay so much per week or per year.
You should invest in a library program.
