  • A highly optimized Apple Silicon port

This is one of the best macOS ports I have played in quite some time. I was able to easily play the game on an m3 MacBook Air with great performance and didn’t even have to lower the settings unless I was trying to reduce how warm my computer got. Even then it still didn’t get extremely hot and everything ran smoothly.
  • Great Game, Solid on Mac but I’d avoid it if you’re on phone only.

Death Stranding is one of my favorite games I’ve 100%’d it on ps4 and my computer so I was happy to see it come to mac and ios. On my m1 mac air it runs well and is an acceptable experience for the game and on the surface the phone version seems fine too. But my iphone 16 pro has suffered from about 4 crashes so far and not even from extended play and an issue where the game gets stuck saving requiring a reboot and losing chunks of progress. I hope they can patch this out but considering it’s a niche port for limited hardware I can’t recommend the iPhone version as an acceptable way too play.

    Crush in iOS18.4 beta?
  • Ridiculous

The first paragraph of this review is strictly for the developers at Kojima Productions. Death Stranding is a beautiful game that feels like a movie at times while touching on key themes like existentialism, community, good vs evil, and humility. I’ve played it on my PS5 and now on my Macbook. It’s the sort of game you can come back to play again and again which brings me to my next paragraph. My second paragraph is for the criticism of 505 Games and whoever else ported this game to mac and the absolute mess you all have created. When I click to open the app it barely works, and when I say barely I mean that most of the time the app never opens, it bounces once and just sits at the dock only to end up unresponsive. I have found guides online claiming that you must be logged into game center within your mac settings for the game to open. I’m not sure why that is necessary but it’s irrelevant as I’m already logged into game center. After my 20th problem report to apple, I have decided to warn others here to save their money because this is absolutely ridiculous. I decided to run my own test to see how unreliable the booting of this game is and it worked for me once out of fifty open attempts and force quits after my mac marked it unresponsive. If you’re a numbers person like I am, this game has a 1:50 ratio of actually opening and allowing you to play it, meaning the app works 2% of the time. Honestly a crash is no big deal, that happens with any game, and the same applies to glitches. But to not open at all is inexcusable, do better. Lastly, I am running a 2023 Macbook Pro M2 Max with 64GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, so my computer is not the issue.

I love this game and it works perfect on my iPhone 16 Pro Max but it is not compatible with the new 18.4 update in the beta program. Immediate crash will update when fixed.
  • Best Experience on MacBook!

I’ve played Death Stranding on all platforms, but the MacBook experience stands out the most. The performance is smooth and stable, with stunning graphics thanks to the game’s excellent optimization for Apple Silicon. Power consumption is lower, and heat management is better compared to a regular PC, making the experience more comfortable and enjoyable. Without a doubt, this is the best way to enjoy this masterpiece!

  • Boring/No instructions

Wasted money on this, I didn’t get a mac pro m4 for gaming solely but since I saw this game was now available for MacOS and I haven’t gamed in a long time I thought I’d give it a try. It’s so confusing with way too many details and not enough instruction/tutorials. Such a waste I’m deleting this. I found myself having to go on youtube to look up how to play, what to do. It feels as though you are starting the game from the middle and not the beginning.
