    I use an iPad to read the Des Moines Register…at least I try. I/we’ve subscribed to the paper more than 30 years continuously. I understand the need to control cost and compete with other digital media for breaking news. That’s not why I subscribe. I want to read the paper. The app is terrible. The zoom feature seems to change with weather. Sometimes single or double tap, then reset the zoom only to endure the pop up ad again. Currently can not load paper. Probably have uninstall and reinstall app. Pushing digital access with a crappy app seems like a poor business model.

    I have never had such a hard time reading the epaper as I have had with this app. Too many bugs! Frustrating.

    Where the heck is information about a vacation pause? If it’s there, it is really well hidden!!

    - The “cancel my subscription” button does not work. - The information says that there is a way to turn off auto-renew in the app settings, but it isn’t there. - The app will not let me remove the credit card information saved into it. - In the privacy settings, it will not allow me to turn off Targeting cookies and data saving. - Their terms of subscription allow them to charge you 14 days in advance of the monthly subscription auto renewing, and they don’t do refunds.

    You signed me out of the app with a paid subscription. I have attempted to get back in but your captcha system bites and it isn’t letting me in. The reset password said it was successful, but then when I tried to use, you said their was no account with that email, yet it is the one you are sending the password reset to. I requested a new password reset email and when I tried to sign in you said that one was an invalid password reset email. I am caught in a loop and frustrated.

    Signed up for a special 99 cents a month for six months. What a nightmare, didn’t have full access to stories. So I canceled the subscription so it would end after six months. All of a sudden a full monthly charge of $20 shows up on my CC. They wouldn’t refund that and it was a nightmare trying to get them to cancel it. Won’t be back!

  • Can’t turn the sound off on adds

    Lots of adds. Mandatory tracking and sound must be on. So, what this means is, I can’t read the paper where other people are present through the app. In a meeting? No. In a cafe? No. Unacceptable.

    I hate opening this app anymore. It immediately screams a social media game commercial. It rarely has more than a couple of news stories and genuinely features >50% of stories on high school athletics and sports. Not a quality news source.
