This new app is terrible. Where’s the epaper? Where is the bridge column and weather map?

I love the app because it allows me to read the paper anywhere. I can keep up with Austin news whenever I’m away from home.

This is a terrible app. Not user friendly. You don’t make it easy to report problems ie with deliveries or request a delivery that has been missed. I pay a lot for this subscription and receive terrible service

You no longer get the entire Austin-American Statesman. It has added USA Today content, but has left out a lot of content specific to Austin.

I subscribed (free version) to get local news beyond TV news. (We live an hour from Austin.) I found the site to be "bare bones" in that regard, with most reasonably interesting stories hidden behind a paywall, in spite of a huge number of ads and popup ads. I'm removing the app and using the much more useful local TV station apps.
  • Great Access but Poor Editing

I appreciate the convenience of being able to read the Austin American-Statesman through the app—having the full newspaper accessible online is a major benefit. However, the reading experience is often hampered by the high number of textual errors in the articles. Phrases are frequently bundled together as if they were a single word, which can make sections feel like they’ve been auto-translated from another language, German comes to mind due to the way words are combined. In addition, it’s not uncommon to find paragraphs oddly split and inserted in unrelated parts of the article, turning the experience into a kind of word puzzle. The content itself is valuable, but the formatting and editing issues seriously detract from readability. I hope future updates will address these problems, as the app has great potential with cleaner presentation.
