  • Best Podcast App

This app is the absolute best for listening to podcasts. They have so many features and settings that help me dial in and customize my listening experience. Thanks for transforming the way I listen to podcasts and for all of the details that you’ve poured into the user experience!
  • The devs have now added ads

The new automatic transcript feature which can’t be used without paying but also can’t be removed from the screen, is now an ad banner since every podcast has ads at the beginning. It’s just text of ads on every podcast. Absolutely pathetic. Stop updating this app, people. Any new versions will only add more paid features and adverts. Not to mention the “AI” filth they’re putting in. Any future update will only make our experience worse.

Acceptable platform for podcasts however multiple times recently I have had podcasts stop 30 minutes in and be unable to play. Just got a new phone so I’ll Find out if that continues. Also, I just went to subscribe to and rate a podcast and it would not let me because I had not listened to an episode through pocket casts. I sorta get it but there are in fact multiple other avenues to listen to podcasts through that are not this app…

Pocketcasts stands out as the daddy of all podcast apps. I have been a user since 2016. In this time I have watched the app’s developers devote themselves to useful and practical constant updates, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience. The attention to detail in the user interface and filters is remarkable, making it a pleasure to navigate and use. One of the app’s standout features is the variety of ways it allows you to moderate episodes. Whether it’s played, unplayed, past, new release, or up next episodes, Pocketcasts offers numerous options for organizing your podcast collection. This flexibility is perfect for users who want to tailor their listening experience. The main UI is another highlight, allowing you to organize your podcasts into customizable folders. This feature is incredibly user-friendly and adds a level of organization that many other podcast players lack.
  • Unreliable

Unreliable, audio issues, audio just dies, finally had to give up
  • Confusing design choices

Update 6/25: They’ve now put a hallucinatory LLM transcription box overtop of the episode description, so I get a half accurate text version of an ad for Chevy blocking the actual useful information the podcast author included. Increasingly I get the feeling this app is being designed by product owners that do not use it or listen to podcasts at all. Lots of extremely questionable features being added that treats listening to podcasts like it’s listening to music. Who in their right mind is shuffling random episodes, or just letting The Algorithm decide what to play next? Podcasts are hours-long conversations, why would I want to not expect what I’m gonna hear?

Nothing to see or do without paying. Free trial available. Leaving a review so I remember why I deleted it.
  • AI Transcript doesn't work but 10% of the time

Great idea to have AI transcription, unfortunately it never works. It always displays a "sorry" message that it had issues. More bells and whistles but no sortable search results.
  • Yay disabling of lock scrubbing!

I was just about to head to a competitor when I saw you added similar functionality to disable scrubbing in the Lock Screen. I can’t tell you how many times my butt has scrubbed to the end of a podcast and then archived it.
