I used to have a GPS 62, which worked pretty well with BaseCamp. I updated to a 67i, which is a great piece. However, there is no Garmin software that functions with a desktop program. The Explore app is great on a phone or iPad, but if you want to see your waypoints, etc., on a bigger screen, you’re out of luck on your iMac. Apparently, it’s a Mac issue, which Garmin engineers have been “working on” for > 1 year without resolution.

I’ve suffered under Garmin for so many years and have nothing good to say about their products and software. The Mac support has always been poor and rarely updated, and their GPS units and operation are very poor. I’ve traveled the world by motorcycle and cursed the Garmin GPS units and software daily, but we’ve had little options. Now that cell phone GPS apps have come into their own, I pray this abysmal company goes out of business. And I say that with all due respect.

Should be possible to recommend NO stars. This software wasnt maintained for years, but still the best edit software for Garmin. With the new MacOS Sonoma it crash all the time making it impossible to use. In other words - You cannot anymore sit on a PC and edit fantastic routes for your Garmin devices.
  • Still a good way to manage GPS data, but...

Version 4.8.11 crashes on me every time I eject one of my devices. I use this all the time to catalog my adventures, but thinking I should export all the data since who knows how long this will keep working.

I own several boats with all garmin products. Since they discontinued home port, trying to manage your way points or tracks on a mac has been a nightmare. I own over 100k in garmin products and with thier lack of support or software updates It honestly has me wanting to switch to simrad. I have been a longtime supporter of garmin but Im really getting sick of this. Base camp is an absolute joke. You cant even use the same icons as the marine fishfinders for your way points Get your act together garmin if i could give this a 0 star rating I would the app is complkete junk!!!

I mistakenly thought this app was at least minimally usuable, but after connecting to my Epix watch, downloading maps incimpletely for >1 hour, and having the activity wheel spin repeatedly until Force Quit, I see no reason for anyone to waste time with this app. Very disappointed in Garmin for lack of support (check last update date).

i guess I had some money to waste on a watch. BaseCamp nor Express will recognize my watch, the "support" pages are worthless, response from Garmnin has been worthless. its just terrible all around.

Garmin builds good devices. Their software to allow one to plan trips on a desktop, and then transfer that trip to a device? Stone Age! This software is unuseable. There is nothing intuitive about it. It hasn't improved in forever. What is so freaking hard about allowing me to pick a number of geographic points, arrange an order, and then send those points to my device? It's embarrassing that Garmin doesn't care to do better.

This app is so far below level of acceptable funtionality Garmin should just punt and start over. Evrything from trying to build maps (usually unsuccesful) to managing devices (usually unsuccessful) is clunky or downright inoperative. C'mon guys - connecting to a USB device shouldn't be a challenge. There are MANY other apps/programs that can do this stuff - up your game.
