Description

Alexander publishes diverse, truly international audio entertainment. Original true stories about culture, sexuality, love, death, nature, science and society, to accompany you wherever you go. Alexander stories come from many cultures and ethnicities: from Zimbabwe, Nigeria, China, Lebanon, Iran, Trinidad, Singapore, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Canada, France, India, Syria, Australia, South America, the US and the UK. But they all come from somewhere else, too. A conviction that we understand the world best when we use our imagination to engage with it. This summer, Alexander launches a themed season on water ecosystems. Stories on the lives of endangered aquatic species such as the dugong and vaquita, and the people who exist alongside them. Stories on the futuristic powers of seaweed, the rights-of-nature movements conferring personhood on rivers, and the beautiful, otherworldly lifeforms flourishing deep beneath the Antarctic ice. Stories from the waterworlds all over our blue planet. Alexander provides: - ACCLAIMED WRITERS. So many incredible tales, written by some of the most brilliant writers working today, or discovered in the archives as fresh as the day they were written. The narrators are at the top of their craft, especially loved Helena Bonham Carter, Natasha Lyonne, and Bill Nighy

Canceled trial, then still charged the highest price for yearly subscription. Impossible to cancel. I really like the stories. Unfortunate.

I decided to try the free trial. Of this particular book app and I must admit that I was very skeptical and felt that it was very unlikely that I would like this app when there is a plethora of reading and audiobook apps to choose from. But I was pleasantly surprised! The works that I presented here or carefully curated and I have been very pleasantly surprised at how easily, I became engaged, in fact, even engrossed at times, in the stories. I highly recommend that you give this app a chance! It’s free and if you’re like me, you’re going to find that you think that the monthly fee — equivalent to the price of a single cheap fast food meal — is definitely a better choice and much more healthy to both your psyche and body! Tune out the negative noisy world and tune in to a lovely alternative reality for a few minutes or a few hours. Lovely state-of-the-art reading and audiobook content!
  • Disappointed with content

While I love old stories from Shirley Hazzard, etc. I was disappointed there were no contemporary cover stories from excellent non-fiction sources like The Christian Science Monitor, New Yorker, Esquire, Atlantic, etc. Will likely not renew the free trial.
  • Terrible business practice

App offers a trial period in which it would supposedly notify user when trial period is about to end and then charge subscription fee. Never received a notification as such, and found that I am being charged an annual subscription fee, an option I never selected. There is no in app account support for users, nor any customer support number available. Without any resolution on the table, I feel cheated out of my money.

such a great concept and i would’ve absolutely LOVED this app if it wasn’t so glitchy. it would play about 2 minutes of audio before the entire app would crash and i would have to reload it, find the story i was listening to, scroll through and find my place, and repeat. it was so tedious i just gave up. once the bugs are fixed this app will be amazing!

Changing my initial review to 3. The content is great so I purchased the subscription. Two days later the app still won’t open, anything I do just spots out “give us the money” page. While within the app I’m “subscribed” and the confirmation from Apple states the money went though their response was very lax and casual as to go through the process again (I did, twice, even though I’m already subscribed), nada. So still waiting for something to happen. If they won’t fix it will have to contact Apple and get a refund and worst of all, waste time on this all. Annoyed.

Hi developer, I wanted to use your app but it does not allow me to sign up. It is always saying “the username exist” while there is no field named username; plus, I double checked my email address, all correct and first time used. Also tried to sign up with another email, it came thru but no verification code sent. So disappointed!
  • My go-to audiobook app !

Intriguing books read by intriguing artists, and even under an hour long for those under time constraints, such as ‘Passion of Faraj S.’ about an Iranian journalist resonating themes such as Beckett’s ‘Waiting for Godot,’ if looked in depth, or Ionesco's ‘The Lesson.’ Or.. ‘Where we come from , where we’re going’ a delicate book about artists living in a delicate part of the world , read delicately by David Oyelowo! These are just to name a few; I encourage everyone to explore the books on Alexander and raise your awareness.
