  • Navigation can be confusing, but still a great app

Navigating the various sections of the app isn’t entirely intuitive (at least not to me), but overall, this is a well-designed and fun app to use. There’s more than one place to message your book club friends, so if Messages could be streamlined into one location, I think that could help to make it less confusing. My book club has missed messages because some of us were posting in the “wrong” place.

I find it easy to maneuver and for the most part it is very user friendly. My only complaint is that is does not allow you to agree on a choice from one club to another. Meaning it is not is easy to second a book suggestion in the same group as another person within that group as your are reviewing their choices. You should be able to have a drop down menu to agree that you also want to read that book or have read that book instread of having to search it yourself and then wait for it to eventually pair it with the other persons suggestion. I also find the orange color scheme very drab and boring. It should be more vibrant or at least change with the seasons. But as I mentioned, I do find it rather user friendly and the book selection is vast!! I also the love that it provides some tips and insights as well as warnings for spoiler alerts when someone is giving a partial review. 🥰.

I have found that this app is worth the money yearly. I love that you can upload documents and PDF files. I haven’t figured out how to do the virtual meetings yet but I would love to learn how. My book clubs are so fun and everyone feels involved
  • I recommend looking elsewhere…

My best friend & I started a book club on this app & were fairly happy for a while. We were initially part of their affiliate program, until they randomly did away with it. After some time, we started to notice more & more glitches in the app & website. We eventually decided that it was not the best platform for our club & the amount of people we had trying to participate. Things did not run smoothly and any feature worth having was locked under the premium membership. We were approached by another platform that wanted us to host our book club through them & we initially said no. After thinking about it & realizing we weren’t happy with BookClubs, we finally made the jump over. My partner was nice enough to let BookClubs know we were making the switch & she was met with some weirdness, but overall things went smoothly. After about a month (where we were still using BookClubs some), we logged in to notice that our club had been completely removed from the site. No warning or anything. The whole experience left a bad taste in our mouth and we feel like people should be warned before getting involved with BookClubs.
  • Too much pressure to upgrade

I like the app, but there is too much pressure to upgrade services. It is super annoying and making me want to find a new app.

The overall app is nice and convenient! Gives you the opportunity to communicate in one place. Allows for inclusivity with book suggestions, polls, message boards, and meetings. However, the app constantly having an ad pop-up for you to upgrade is excessive.

We have a small personal book club that found this app and thought it would be great for tracking and messaging. However it was not user friendly without purchasing the upgraded version. It isn’t a fit for us and too pricey on a monthly basis for our needs.
