This app has been a delight - reliable, convenient, easy budgeting. And quick customer service when I have any questions.
  • Scam company

After signing up to use monarch I was reached out by their head of advice or something like that to take a survey call with them that lasted about 45 minutes to better understand my experience. So I had the call with Rachel Lawrence. Just so everyone else is aware they position the call by saying if you take the call they will send you a $75 dollar Amazon gift card, which is a lie. They record the call. Ask you personal questions and basically steal your data and say that they are not doing that. It’s recorded in the call that the $75 dollar Amazon gift card would be sent out. It’s been 3 days and I even emailed Rachel to ask if she could confirm that it was sent and she has not responded. So they basically lied to me. Used my time for their own personal gain. And showed that Monarch Money does not care about their users and that monarch is basically a scam company. Really great first impression monarch team. Thanks for using me for your own personal gain Rachel Lawrence Head of Advice at Monarch!!! Scammers!!!

This app is hands down the best net worth / spending tracker / account summarizer app out there. However… it cripplingly falls short when it comes to budgeting. It’s almost like that part of the app was an afterthought when compared to how well everything else works. Loads of clutter in the budgeting UI, some bugs when transitioning between flexible and fixed categories, data gets projected and then stuck between months, just some weird stuff starts going on then you begin playing around with the budgeting UI and features, and no easy or clear way to just wipe everything once it gets messed up. Unfortunately I’ll have to stick with YNAB, but wow do I wish it worked.
  • Frustrating

The setup was smooth. I’ve used many of the popular finance apps and this one is the clunkiest and most frustrating in my experience. Things that should be simple to do are not or can’t be done. I thought this app might take more advantage of AI but from what I can see it doesn’t do this in a helpful way.

Was really loving the idea for a couple days but it’s suuuuuper slow to update. Too many problems to justify the price tag
  • Best Personal Finance app I’ve used

I’ve used rocket money, mint mobile (and the new intuit version), YNAB, even the good old excel spreadsheets. I’m a broke college kid so I don’t have a *ton* of complicated finances going on, but I have to say the visibility and control this app has given me over my financial organization has more than paid back the coat of a Monarch subscription. Worth it!!!
  • It’s ok

I dont have any better alternatives, and its not that expensive so I continue to use it, but there are a few annoying problems with it. Many accounts I have (federal and state accounts specifically) just don’t sync correctly. Missing data, or just straight up won’t sync some accounts at all. Even with accounts that do sync, you have to reconnect so often that it feels like monarch is just an additional thing to sign into along with all you’re other investments, savings, loans and other financial accounts. It’s somewhat convenient to see 85% of my finances all at once. But you never get 100% and the 85% certainly isn’t seamless.

First app I have found that supports all of my accounts, including Apple Cash and Apple Card. Really helps me figure out where my money is going and get control over my finances. Highly recommend!

Highly recommended. Since mint went away this has been a life saver.
  • Don’t waste your money

While good in theory, the app frequently skips tracking transactions, making tracking metrics meaningless. Submitted support tickets and reasoning provided was that it was a ‘known technical limitation’. Waste of money.
