Description

Chameleon is an AUv3 compatible sampler instrument plugin for your favourite DAW. The program can run as a standalone app in order to record audio samples from the internal microphone or professional audio interface. It also supports incoming Inter-App Audio connections for sampling directly from other iOS applications, however it is primarily intended to be used as an AUv3 Instrument plugin for applications such as Cubasis, AUM, Auria, Meteor, Gargeband etc. The plugin can additionally be loaded as an AUv3 effect in order to record audio passing through it from other AUv3 Instrument sources, which makes it a very versatile and useful tool. So what is a sampler? A sampler is a device that allows you to imitate other instruments with just a few short audio snippits. Although it comes with a library of presets it also allows you to create your own. You do this by recording multiple audio clips and mapping them to the notes on a MIDI keyboard and Chameleon does the rest using a sophisticated pitch shifting algorithm to fill in the blanks. Recorded samples can either be layered or mapped freely over a 7 octave range and saved as individual presets. Presets are then organised into custom categorised banks which can be exported and shared with others. Just think, you can sample all your favourite synth sounds and carry them around on your iPhone/iPad without the inconvenience of lugging heavy gear around with you. Sample anything from musical instruments to vocal snippits, drum machines or ambient noises. The possibilities are endless. Recording is incredible easy. Just create a New Patch and press record. Chameleon will wait for you to play a note before recording begins. Once recorded press the LEARN button and tap the note range on the virtual or MIDI keyboard to map the sample. Repeat this as many times as required, tweak the settings and save your patch. Additionally you can setup loop points with the ability to apply crossfade. If all that sounds too complicated, just press auto sample and let Chameleon do all the sampling for you. Chameleon also has a quite sophisticated arpeggiator which allows you to create complex mixtures of notes and chords with glide, hold and re-triggering options. On board reverb, digital delay and chorus effects are available to give your samples a more polished touch. We also include 4 touch pads for quickly dialing in on a sound or for easy effect automation. Configurable touch ADSR and modulation options are available too. Chameleon can also import audio samples using iOS Files integration or you can make use of Copy / Paste to quickly drop one of more samples into a patch. You can also freely edit samples using the built in tools such as normalise, fade in, fade out, crop, clear options etc. You can run Cameleon as a standalone app and map external MIDI keyboards (Bluetooth MIDI support also included) and perform audio sampling outside of your DAW. This is provided for convenience since you can't record input when hosted as an AUv3 Instrument plugin. Yes some DAW's have built in samplers which only have the ability to playback libraries provided with the software. Chameleon allows you to built your own libraries of sounds and share them with others. There's a budding rapper in you dying to get out and we have just the tool! Features: AUv3 Instrument and AUv3 Effect compatible Runs as a standalone app for sampling purposes. Supports incoming IAA connections to compatible apps.. ADSR touch envelopes and modulation. ARP - Sophisticated programmable arpegiator. Reverb, Chorus and Digital Delay Effects with BPM sync. Backup and Restore patches and banks. Create your own user banks. 4 Touch Pads for automation. 16 MIDI Drum Pads iOS Files App support for import and export. Bluetooth MIDI support Loop Points and optional Crossfade supported. Monophonic and Polyphonic modes. Auto Sample feature. Built in Vocoder.

The sampler is great , but the mono is very basic no legato and no mono priority choice

I have to say that this is an amazing app!! I have Omnisphere 2 and really hoped that it would be created for IOS, but it never will be. Then I found this app and all is well. I can bring my favorite massive Omnisphere pads into my iPad. Thank you!! One request. Is there a way to improve the cross fade to conceal the cross fade point (where it ducks in volume creating a sort of tremolo effect at the cross fade point). I am working on a work around regarding the samples to try to create a more seamless loop point without having to use cross fade at this time. But if it could be improved this app would be well worth 5 times its price!
  • Needs adsr for each sample

Hello Cool app but it really needs adsr for each sample, so if you use drum mode you can adjust each sample accordingly and automate the envelope from an outside sequencer. Thx
  • Uhh... IIA not working?

Can't really find a way to reach the dev for support, so I'm posting it here. I can't get chameleon to receive audio from any other app through IIA. I tried: -) AUM. Connecting to AUM output, it shows a successful connection in AUM. But chameleon seems to receive no audio, and the record button in chameleon won't click. -) Audiobus 3: chameleon isn't listed as an output option at all in AB3. But I can select "Audiobus intermediate out" in chameleon, however, AB3 doesn't say anywhere that any connection was made (I don't know if it is supposed to say so), and in chameleon, it still seems to be receiving no audio. -) connecting directly to audiokit synth one : inside chameleon, I selected synth one as my source. It says the same "success" message, but still seems to be receiving no audio. If I click monitor button, it warns me about feedback, but no sound is heard from synth one, and the record button still does nothing. So I've tried three different ways to get IIA to be received by chameleon, and none worked. But the dev has been updating this app, so I find it difficult to believe that this problem would be overlooked. Am I doing something wrong? I left 5 stars but if the dev doesn't respond and I can't find a solution elsewhere, I'll probably be back with a different rating. 「(°ヘ°)

I'm going to start this off by saying that ive purchased 3 bundels of apps from you, and they are by far the best Audio editing plug-ins I have ever used, you get way more quality tools than what you pay for, and these apps are really easy to use even with all the complex effects that they do. they have way more effects than any other plug ins i have ever used, and have the most organized interface i have seen. I have yet to see one of these plug-ins crash in garageband, and the window option on the iphone 10 xs max works great. I can easily change the effects on my instruments, and still hit the piano keys to test out how it sounds. I have never experinced any lag, or clicking noises when messing around with effects on audio samples either. Also for any of you who use the iphone 10 xs max for audio/video editing you may have noticed you phone gets hot alot. ever sinced i started using these plug-ins my phone has not been hot nor has it crashed these plug-ins are just pure quality. Also anybody that deals with their phone getting hot while editing there is a way to fix it if you can live without siri. just go into your setting, and turn of all siri functions on all the apps, including background app refresh on everything expcept E-Mail. It dosent fix it all the time, but your iphone will not get no where near as hot, and alot of times not at all. now on to the question lol, i was wondering if you would be able to make a sampler, such as the sampler in garage band, but instead of when you change the note on the sampler in garageband it either slows the sample down or speeds it up. you can simply set a tempo that the audio loop will follow no matter what note you change the loop to. in short when i go from E0 to E2 i want the sampler to automatically transpose the loop to that note, and I know gargeband has a transpose option, but having to snip an audio loop then transpose it at multiple points gets tedious, and really takes me out of my creative mind state lol thank you-
  • Not opening in standalone mode on iPhone 7

I want to god this app 5 stars but it’s not opening in standalone mode on my iPhone 7 running iOS 13.3. It opens fine as a AU plugin from a host but not in standalone. When I attempt to open i see the splash screen for a 1-2 seconds then the app closes. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling, rebooting device, etc Nothing has worked. Emailed support and have not gotten a reply. I really need this to work in standalone mode on my device.
  • Mapping samples to keys or pad

I can’t get into this sampler because when I try to assign a sound to a key, multiple samples play at once. I want one sample on the A key, another sample on B, a third on C, etc and its not working that way. I’m new to this and without clear instructions, either written or video, I’m more frustrated than inspired. And forget about using this in Cubasis. A little help please.
  • Very useful app

Nice to see this update to real-time sample editing, however auto zero cross snapping is a hindrance to realtime precision unless it can be disabled. Otherwise this app has great potential
  • Please increase sampling time and improve on patch browser

I love pretty much everything about this except how short the sampling time is. I was really hoping this would be the one but the lack of time stretching and only 8 seconds of sampling time means BM3 is still the king of samplers. It would be great if there was a chop mode too. Also, the patch browser needs work, having it close every time I select a patch and having to open it again, navigate to the category again and chose the next patch make the process extremely slow when finding sounds
