  • Great app, but lots of UI quirks

Ive been using Paprika as my recipe manager for many many years, but it continues to frustrate me that not much effort has gone in to improving the UI for at least the last 5 years. Right not my biggest gripe is that you cannot hide columns or re-arrange the column order when you’re in List view. When I search for recipe containing a certain ingredient or title, I want to see the star ratings of the resulting recipes in the 2nd column of the listing, so I know which ones I’ve cooked before and want to make again. On my 2020 MacBook Air screen, the star rating is way off to the end of the column listing, so I always have to scroll to the right to sort by star rating. There are also non-standard and (annoying) UI quirks, like having the “Cancel” and “Save” buttons in Edit Recipe mode being on opposite sides of the window. I also wish there was “dupe detection” so you don’t wind up with multiple duplicate copies of a recipe if you’ve previously saved it before

I could not love this app anymore than I do. The fact that it’s so easily cuts through all the advertising and pop-up on all of these recipe sites is amazing. I can’t stand weeding through all the garbage and paprika simply takes care of it all. love love, love.

I am very pleased with this app. It imported my recipes from a previous app without an issue I purchased the IOS app and sync is fast and effortless to my desktop. I love the import recipie from a website, awesome! If I get inspired on the road I have evrything I need in my pocket. I hope this continues to get support through the years! Very well done!

Spent WAY too long bookmarking recipes in browsers and having to fight through the ads to read the recipes. Mobile app is a great deal. Desktop app is a little pricey, but I splurged only so I can create my own recipes.
  • Dock Icon

The Dock Icon doesn’t conform to UI standards of OS, it warps the dock and it is a distraction. It is jarringly malformed visually in the dock; while all of the other Applications Launchers conform in unity. It hurts to look at; as if it doesn’t belong, and “I want it to belong.” I want it to be within the dock usage experience with the other apps, but sadly it cannot.

I cannot underscore how excellent this program is. We have 4780 recipes stored. Our grage upright and chest freezer has their content logged in the pantry with expiraation dates and location. I star favorites, share with family, and add weekly. I adjust recipes for improvement and make notes. My 18 year old son has now added Paprika on a different platform and has access to all the family recipes. The star rating of 4.9/5 is well deserved. It deserves 10 stars.

I have had Paprika for years. It is the BEST recipe app hands down. Having your recipe book with you at all times (time saver), being able to email friends a recipe, pulling recipes from the internet, and easy location of your favorites make this my go to app. Buy it; you won’t be disappointed! Thanks to the developers! Love your work!
  • Great app

I love this app. My only complaint is that you have to pay, or at least pay full price, to have it on more than one device. Once of the best parts of having the app is being able to use it at home but also at the grocery store. That kind of requires two devices. At least it does for me.

    • When you download recipes, you cannot check all the last categories you used. I go and search for vegan recipes like soups, and I would love to save time and check the boxes of what was last inspected. • No shortcuts for creating categories. • No tags so that you can make intelligent folders containing different categories. • When you select things from categories, the folders constantly expand, and I have to keep shrinking categories that I am not focusing on with what I am downloading. • You don't allow me to shift or command-click on multiple recipes to drag them into another category, and that is so basic and frustrating. • You can not command the back bracket to return to where you were or up a level. • You can't command drag a recipe or multiple recipes into a different category to have it not add but move from the category it is in (while retaining the other categories it was in.) • No undo; I try to delete things from a category, and instead of just removing it from the category, it removed it from everywhere and every category. No option popped up and said do you want to remove from this category so annoying and frustrating. • There is no undo from deleting a recipe! How in the world is there no undo crazy for an application? It is so annoying! • Arrow keys don't switch between weeks in meals and do nothing. Why are there no more key commands?!
