How do I feel and what do I think about this games?
By 1 star off
VERY UPSET is my feeling after about 5 months and spent about $1,300 USD real money played the game to the 2,640+ levels, whatever the exact level where the bathroom on the island is completed, and the island is only available after the theater on the top floor of the mansion is done.
I downloaded the Matchington Mansion game after played its ad fixing the kitchen. None of this is in the game, but one could argue that remodeling and furnishing the entire mansion and its surrounding landscapes is pretty much the same thing but without the tools used in the ad.
It’s true that you could passed the level without spending real money by keep on trying. Here is the trick, can you? For me, this is the very first game that I EVER spent real money besides the power ball lottery. Why this game? Because I love to do home improvement projects on my own house if I have extra money to do so, and I couldn’t resist the fantasy of improving on the entire mansion.
I gave in and spent the money when I couldn’t pass a level after days of trying, especially, when I could pass it with just one more move. Oh, what a teaser! Of course, I had no moves left, so I paid for the coins to get 5 extra moves. The lowest number of coins you could buy is 1,100 coins for $1.99.
The 1st 5 extra moves without the power boost costs 500 coins. If you miscalculated and can’t passed after the 1st 5 extra moves, buy the 2nd with 1 power boost for 600 coins, or the 3rd with 2 power boosts for 800 coins, and so on.
Why keep paying for more extra moves? Because if you don’t, you wasted the coins you paid earlier for nothing. Especially, when you have lot of coins left to spend when sometimes you buy 150,000 coins at 11% discount for $89.99 during a sales event (normally $99.99 for this “best value package”).
You can also buy power boosters after certain levels. A set of 3 magnifying glasses for 1,000 coins to smash anything without matching (my most favorite) and it’s the only thing you can buy and choose to use while playing a level. Or for 700 coins, you can buy other power boosters and choose to use at the starting of a level. You have total control of where to smash the magnifying glass, but no control of the placement of the other power boosters, and they appear very often at an undesirable position.
You earned in average about 50 coins and only one star after each level is passed. You can get about the same number of coins with the option of watching random ads (limited each day) or you can choose a package of coins to buy (no limited, spend as much money as you want here).
But the only way to get each star is by passed a level, and it is needed to updating the mansion. I hated it when I was forced to waste too many of these hard earned stars on things and activities I don’t care or want. No option in this game on where to use the stars. The task list won’t update with new activities if it hasn’t emptied yet.
After the mansion was completed and I didn’t care much about decorating the island, I downloaded the Homescapes game from one of those ads. I alternate between Matchington and Homescapes, and I spent about $200 on the Homescapes too.
Finally, the nagging on my conscious was too loud for me to ignore. I tracked down the total amount I spent since late December 2018 to mid May 2019 and it was shockingly climbed to $1,524. This I will never spend on myself or my home if I don’t see the value in.
I got addicted and lost control on a game with no value at all! I was too scare to continue so I deleted both games. I hate the idea of losing control and ran away from a problem; I reinstalled both games. I wanted to take on the challenge and face the problem as I always have been.
Homescapes got me right back to where I left it, but Matchington got me to the very beginning at LEVEL ONE! I lost all of my progress of passed over 2,600 levels and at least 50,000 coins left from the last 150,000 coins package I bought on May 7, 2019.
Contacted the app support only got one response directed me to the FQA with no additional helps or solutions. No response to my subsequent contacts. Per FQA, you only can save your progress on Facebook. If you reset your phone and don’t have Facebook, then you will lose everything. I don’t have Facebook and I refuse to sign up now or in the future.
Meanwhile, I’m still playing the Homescapes game without paying a dime for a week now; not even when I see clearly the teaser 1 extra move needed to pass it. If I don’t pass, try again. Nothing to prove here but getting my power of control back. Remind myself of what I could do with the $1,500 instead.
In the end, Matchington Mansion is an interesting game if you can be patience, but its app support is horrible. Delete the game only if you really want a fresh start over and play only if you can resist the urge to spend the money or don’t mind spending some money but don’t count on the app support when you’re having an issue.
For me, I don’t want to start over and I can’t get any help from the app support. I’m done with the Matchington Mansion game.
