It doesn’t work, you start listening & it stops 1 paragraph later. You have to go back & restart over & over! $139.99 is not worth it & they won’t refund your $$$!!!!

I signed up for the trial and requested an email for 24 hours before premium is charged. I did not find the app useful for my needs. I received the email and cancelled subscription within 24 hours. Apple charged me anyway $149!! I emailed customer support. They said take it up with Apple. I contacted Apple, they denied my claim. I requested a second appeal and was denied! They didn’t even read investigate! These people are dishonest! They only care about money and they will gladly cheat you out of yours! It’s not worth it… find another resource that cares about you and is useful!
  • The new AI-generated voice is amazing!

As someone who uses Speechify to proofread my work, I can not express how helpful it was to hear my voice reading it. While Speechify has significantly increased my ability and speed to read my assignments, my proofreading has been cut in half since hearing my work in my tone and cadence helps me recognize errors. This app is a must-have for college students and professionals seeking to improve their productivity. Moreover, the were able to create an AI replica that doesn't induce an uncanny valley feeling. Phenomenal work!
  • Premium plan Payment

The price of the plan is not the problem. I just don't like that there is no option to pay monthly. I don't have $250 to spend right now. Being able to break thG payment up would allow me to use full advantage of this app, but unfortunately i'm stuck with the free voices they give me which are pretty robotic.

  • Great but

Absolutely fantastic app, however, instead of offering a trial version of premium features for a few days and then requesting $140 (plus tax) all at once as the only option, might I suggest bringing down that price to something actually affordable by 96.37% of working people on planet Earth?! I could easily afford the $2 and some change per day, but $140 in one fell swoop is a lot for me. Consider using Affirm as a payment plan? Or else just ask for a monthly subscription (roughly $12/month) like all the other services at large do. Or if monthly is too small, do a 3-month option. I have so many PDFs and Amazon Kindle books I want to listen to/read, but when aliens from outer space and/or when AI’s set their astronomical prices based on the average NASA astronaut salary, I have to say “uh Houston, we have a problem”. Please offer other options and I will gladly pay for your worthwhile services. I’m living paycheck to paycheck, so please make this actually affordable for those like me.
  • It works, and has good voices, but…

The app works well enough, but it does not always import files cleanly. Even for those it does, there is a feature called ‘Enhanced Skipping’ that is AI driven, and it skips words or even whole sentences. When reading a document, words are said incorrectly. For example, cheek was read as chest. Nose was read as None. There are several more, but you get the idea. It also has difficulty separating paragraphs. When it reaches aa new chapter, it reads the word ‘Chapter’ as if it was the first word of the sentence. I would have continued with the subscription, but these issues make it difficult for me to enjoy listening to a document I upload.

I think the program has great potential but it was frustrating to have issues with the app and no available customer service to help with troubleshooting. I paid for premium, the charge went through, and I began exploring the features. A few days in, I was using the app for school when I got an error message. I was kicked out of the app and could not log back in to my premium account. Every time I log in now it says I have a basic plan and can no longer get access to the features I paid for, even though I can see that the subscription is still active for a whole year. I plan on disputing the charge since I cannot recover my premium status on my own and getting in touch with a helper is not a quick or easy process. I did not want to cancel the account or be charged a second time to see if that would fix the problem, but since the app gave me few options and I was frustrated, I have decided to just get my money back.
  • I want to love it, but…

The demo so was good, it got me to do the trial to *even consider* the high asking price. BUT, when put to work to read a document I authored, there were too many misses. I sent feedback already via the app, but Speechify—despite its obvious potential—isn’t there yet. Too many words are skipped, there’s no way to disable the reading of special characters, and pausing between sentences is near non-existent (just ONE more beat and it’d be there). Also, informal language like “uh” shouldn’t be read as “u h.” I expected more savvy for an app at this price point. Happy to try it again once a major upgrade is available.
  • Scam - poor quality

The quality of the text to speech when using PDF is very poor. I subscribed for a free three day trial and tried to cancel it on the last day of the trial. Now, neither Speechify nor Apple is willing to refund my money even though they have 1) charged me for a one year subscription and 2) still canceled my account. So now they’ve charged me over $150 for a subscription I do not want and cannot access.
