So after years of using the app with mostly success Im deep in the backcountry and the app DEMANDS that I creat an account with Outside.com, hunched under a pinion pine for shade to see my screen I attempt to create an account. Despite limited cell coverage and multiple links and login pages I think I succeed. I go back to the app and attempt to log in with the credentials REQUIRED even though Ive already paid for the service and downloaded the maps. NO LUCK. Now Im deep in the backcountry with no maps. Giant middle finger to Gaia, Never Again. I'll use any app but this one.

The only reason to keep paying for this app is so you can be part of the class action lawsuit when people start dying in the backcountry because they relied on Gaia. Imagine using this app as an outdoor professional, relying on it for life saving navigation and safety in the backcountry. Now imagine you absolutely need to use the app to coordinate a rescue, but in a typical situation when you have basically no cell service because it’s an app for the backcountry. You open it up, and now you have to create a log in for a failing magazine in order to use the app that you already pay $60 a year for?! Ridiculous, incredibly frustrating, and for a product people use for safety?! Absolutely inexcusable. Once you manage to create a magazine company login and you finally get the app to open, it is entirely non functional. Downloaded maps just show as all black. Full 5g internet, expect over a minute waiting for a map to load. Zoom in, crash. Literally unusable. This app will get people killed. People rely on this for safety and it does not work. It’s the Pieps avalanche beacon of navigation apps. The developer owes it to the community to remove this app from the store.

We like to hike and ride bikes on good trails. So Gaia has become our go to app over the last several years. We recommend it to everyone we meet with similar interests. Thanks to the Gaia Team for making our adventures easier to plan and safer to complete.
  • Sign in awful

The app’s single sign in with outside plus is awful. Not sure why it doesn't retain the password, so I frequently need to sign back in and even then often doesn’t acknowledge my password

Went to renew a login and it just spins until timing out in the app. Reset my password, still spinning. Uninstalled the app, redownloaded and reset password for Gaia/Outside/etc on the computer: still can’t log in. Loved this app, but why can’t I get into it anymore?

Hating the change that requires me to choose an activity before saving a track. I'd guess this is info the developers want to track, but it is frustrating and completely useless for me. Make it optional. Additionally the only help appears to be via a bot, so basically no help. I've used this app for years without the need to try others. No longer the case.
