The Local

The local is fun and useful for Swedish news in English. Good variety of stories, great writing and good podcast too.

No dark mode so hard on the eyes. They ask for suggestions but never replay. Also my own public comments are never posted.

What sort of idiots set this site up? Even their links to reset password do not work. Just what is going on? Even their name is not thelocal, it had in the past come up Under tiny pass. But now I do not know. This is a very poorly run website and I will not recommend it to anyone. Be aware you will have issues.

This app was far more useful before the update. As a paying member I now have to choose only one default country for news. If I want to switch to news for another country I have to login again each time. I don’t want to be forced to deal with that paywall. That’s why I pay for a membership.

The new app is fully functional! So much better than the previous one! They did a first-rate update from top to bottom!

As people have been screaming for more than a year, FIX THE LOGIN LOOP.

I agree with the other user- great content if you can get it- but I almost never can… it continually logs you out and then tries to sell you a subscription-which you have already paid for! I have contacted the helpdesk twice and they do not even respond. Why don’t they cancel their IT guys and get someone who can do the job? This is not a small paper. I have several new subscriptions and I never had this problem with any of them. Very disappointing as I will be canceling my subscription as well.

I thought a news app would be the most compatible app on any apple device because it is just simply reading digital articles, kinda what an IPad was made for… The second I downloaded and opened it on my iPad I deleted it immediately after. I would be happy to see the local on Apple News or a better digital news service. I additionally would be much more inclined to purchase Apple news subscription to read the local. I see the headlines of the articles and want to read them so bad, but then a paywall comes up. So I was about to cave in and pay but again the IPad app was not formatted for an iPad so I gave up. Looking forward to the local being on Apple News.

This app isn’t even functional for me, yet the news provided by the local is top notch. I recommend just using the website in safari.
