Love it but it’s unfinished sadly not sure why Apple keeps allowing unfinished apps to be listed.
  • Far more than decent.

Simply put, it does most of those funky dubstep things and simplifies the process of chaining an fm synth with chorus, distortion, bit crush, etc., and puts lfo spped on an easy-to-use slider on primary menu, just waiting to be midi-mapped. its one flaw is only that it doesn't do AU, but it does Interapp audio, so. Accept it for what it is.
  • Why in the hell did I buy this?

I really should know better by now. I honestly can't recommend it.

First off, let me just say that I love the sound and simplicity of this adorable wub-wub bass synth. The UI is excellent, and the sound is spot on. However, without IAA/core MIDI, it's just a toy. Add that, and I'll rate this like the professional product it could be.
  • Brilliant!!! But no iaa control? MIDI?

Ok super awesome synth but IAA doesn't work with modstep and I can't find the app in my midi target list. How does it work? Is there a manual? Please update this gem so it works, I want to start using it in my choons!!!
  • Like the straightforward approach, but needs a few features

I think WubSynth has some promise as an affordable, easy-to-use bass synth for dubstep or other styles that use tempo-synced oscillation. I kind of enjoy Synth Drum Pads by this same developer, so I gave this one a try. The sounds are decent, and like the all-on-one-screen display approach. But despite having AudioBus and IAA capability, I think WubSynth needs work in at least two key areas. First, does the app have no MIDI functionality whatsoever? I plugged in a keyboard and expected it to at least work with CoreMIDI, but no go. Sure enough, neither the description nor the settings options I could find referenced MIDI. While it's fairly easy to control a dubstep bass line with the on-screen keyboard, it still needs CoreMIDI and Virtual MIDI functionality to allow for use with other controllers and sequencers. Second, I'd like to see the preset functionality beefed up. It advertises "99 save slots", but I find those are hard to use if you can't also give them descriptive names, maybe sort by category, and view in a menu interface. I did like the quality of some of the sounds, and the bitcrush effect is a nice addition. Tempo sync works and is easy to access, but I'd like to see an indicator on the time slider for the partition being used (for example: Miami synth in Korg Gadget tells you if it is oscillating by 1/4, 1/6, 1/8, 1/16th note, etc.). With those changes, I'd consider increasing my score to a 4 or possibly 5-star review. I do appreciate the low price point and small download file size!
