  • Trouble with Google Chromecast

    By Lforliz
We’ve been using HBO Now for a few years now, along with our Google Chromecast, to watch it on TV. This week, for no discernible reason, it decided to stop cooperating with the Chromecast. We can watch what we want directly on the device we are using (I use an iPhone, and my husband has a Google phone and a PC), but when we try to connect it to the Chromecast, 1 of 2 things happens. Either it connects, gives us the HBO screen on the TV, and maybe gives us a half a second of the loading screen for the show we chose to watch (either John Oliver or Sesame Street) before kicking us out of the app altogether, OR it just refuses to connect. We have not been having this problem with Netflix or Hulu at all. It started before I downloaded the app update. My husband has gone through the website and kicked all of our devices off of the account before having us log back in and try again (nothing). AND we’ve rebooted and hard reset the Google Chromecast multiple times, and we only managed to get it up and running to play Sesame Street once. It was a mistake to stop it, because now we can’t get it started again. Please help. Sometimes Sesame Street is all that will calm our overtired 11 month old down!
  • subtitles

the subtitles are slower than speech of people, that’s annoying.
  • Frustrating interface/constant streaming errors

    By 👍🏻/👎🏻 ClarkeGriswold
Have had the app streaming to Vizio Smartcast for about 6 months. Made it through one movie in that time without the app crashing. Great movies and series but worthless if you can’t watch anything without losing your cool when it crashes.
  • Laggy on all platforms.

This is my second and last chance at giving HBO a legitimate try. My home internet is perfect. I can stream Netflix or YouTube no problem, same for Spotify. But on any of my devices, whether it’s iOS or on PC or on fire stick, all shows will lag or buffer intermittently throughout. It’s not a constant immersive experience. It was like this during the 7th season of Game of Thrones and it’s STILL doing this. Not once have I been able to stream an entire episode of anything from this service without lag lag and more lag. So now I’m cancelling my subscription and will be obtaining HBO’s titles in such a way that i can view them in HD from my hard drive without interruptions. I wish my subscription fee would pay for better servers or technical improvements on HBO’s end, but since that’s obviously not the case, I will be taking to the high seas.
  • End subscription!?

It will not let me cancel my subscription. I keep Following the directions and it’s always a dead end. Way to complicated and will never use again!
  • Great App

  • I will NEVER subscribe to HBO streaming services again.

Even I, a tech savvy eighteen year old was stumped for over thirty minutes on how to cancel my subscription on my phone. It didn’t appear in ‘manage subscriptions’ on the App Store, nor does HBONOW’s website even allow people using their mobile devices to log in and access their settings. It just keeps sending you back around to the same screen that pushes subscriptions. I wish HBO would of sent me an email reminding me that my subscription fee was due, I haven’t used HBO but once last month, and as a broke college student I kind of needed that $14.99 for more important things. Like food and gasoline. Never again will I subscribe.
