Description

Encrypto is a free, easy-to-use app that lets you encrypt files with AES-256 encryption and then send them to friends or coworkers. It works on both Mac and Windows, so you can send encrypted files without worrying whether the other person can open it or not. Protect Files with AES-256 Encryption Take any file or folder and add AES-256 encryption to it. Let Encrypto give you peace of mind when it comes to the security of your files when sending them. Send Password Hints Instead of relaying a password, include a unique, embedded password hint that only the recipient would be able to decipher. Send Files Using OS X Sharing Share encrypted files via Mail, AirDrop, or Messages, or even share them with third-party apps like Dropbox. However you usually share, Encrypto has you covered. Or Save Them to Disk With Encrypto, you can encrypt your files even if you don’t need to send them. You know, for file security on your hard drive. Just put your file through Encrypto and boom — it’s protected. Encrypt and Decrypt on Both Mac and Windows Share files with friends no matter their OS. You use a Mac, your friend uses Windows — you both can encrypt and send files to each other with Encrypto.

  • Can’t seem to Hide originals as Indicated

When using Encrypto I can’t seem to hide the original file, as indicated. No big deal, I move them off to removable media, instead. But knowing me I will likely lose that microSDCard or it will go bad with all my important stuff on it. Lost 3 months work saving everything to a Flash Drive that no longer works and a MicroSDCard I can’t find anymore (hopefully I find it after the renovation). There is a dropdown menu under Share File, but Hide Original is not available and the More selection does not function. I have an M2 Max MBP. Still, a really nice program.
  • Good replacement for Boxcryptor

I was happily using Boxcryptor to encrypt sensistive files in the cloud, but that got bought by Dropbox and ceased to work independently. I searched for a replacement - tried Nord Locker, but that is both more than I need and very poor, then found Encrypto. Well done, straightforward and easy to use. Not quite as easy as Boxcryptor - I do have to enter the password every time, but that make it more secure.

I've been a fan of this app for years. Easy, quick, and useful. Now all we need is an iOS version to access files encrypted on the desktop and uploaded to the cloud.

Excellent I have been using it for a long time on Mac and Win. To be perfect it could have a version for iPhone and iPad. Sometimes I need to decrypt on iPhone or iPad.

if you're looking for easy quick solution to encrypt senstive files before sending to the Cloud, this is the desktop tool to get. If you also use Windows, there'a a Windows version that covers you. The only drawback is there's no mobile app on either iOS or Android.

  • NO GO On 10.15.7

If you have previously used this app on OS 10.15.7 DO NOT UPDATE. 1.4.0 has rendered the app usless. Crashes upon opening. I have lost acces to dozens of files that can not be decrypted! No indication that the developers are in any hurry to resolve what I would consider a VERY serious issue affecting many users. NOT GOOD!
