  • I’m not understanding lessons!

When I tried a free trial , Babbel allowed me to repeat the words, to see if I am pronouncing the words correctly. Now, that a bought a membership, I cannot get that same feature. I am finding it difficult to know if I am saying the words or the phrases correctly. How do I get that feature back?

I love doing babble lessons, they challenge me, but are also easy! One thing that would be super cool is for there to be a search bar if you want to say something in Spanish but haven’t learned it yet. Other than that this app is totally worth buying!
  • So excited to be able to speak to my family!

Switched over to Babbel from Duolingo because I felt like it would give me proper lessons on grammar, sentence structure, forming sentences, etc. and boy was I ever right!! I already understand Spanish and have a good accent because my parents and older relatives spoke Spanish around me all the time, but I was never taught how to respond in Spanish on my own. Thanks to Babbel, though, I’ve already been able to have some really good conversations with my family members, and neighbours who also speak Spanish! I got the yearly subscription for 50% off and it is beyond reasonable. Can’t recommend this app enough ♥️
  • Robus Norwegian bokmål, touchy interaction

The app provides a robust Norwegian lesson set including speakers from multiple regions. And they introduce the feminine gender nouns spoken most places except the Oslo and Bergen areas. This isn’t critical but people outside the main metropolitan areas regularly the use of all three grammatical genders and if you want a better sense of Norwegian it’s better to learn these right off the bat. My only complaint is this: when asked to spell a word the app provides buttons with the required letters. When you tap on a letter it will change background to indicate a tap, but the app requires a slightly longer tap to actually insert the letter. This feedback could be improved as I regularly make errors with longer words. I don’t see I’ve missed, say, a double “L” so I tells me I have an error.
  • Unsatisfactory

I wanted to learn Japanese and even tried the free week for the upgraded languages and still couldn’t find it, I’m sad to say this app did not meet my standards of quality or excellence
  • I like it when it’s working

I have enjoyed Babble. My only complaint is that it stops working and I have to restart my phone. My the time I get back to getting my phone up and running I don’t get back to my lessons.
  • Easy to learn

I really like that Babbel “knows” my level. The lessons get harder or repeat so I’m always working on the next step for me.
  • Best Language App, but Obviously Very Sloppy DevOps Unit

Project Management at Babble is just ridiculous. They routinely push out modifications without having Beta Tested these modifications to discern whether or not it will break various features in this app. The latest error raised its ugly head yesterday as I continued my Daily Streak and completed 2 lessons and 2 reviews. Then I wake this morning and as I decided to get some studying in as I enjoyed my morning coffee, I see that Babble thinks that I took yesterday off from my studies. Any changes/updates/improvements must be tested on a Hot Site (a fully functioning, working Babble environment used for testing purposes that functions as if it was the same site that millions access every day) before the changes are implemented and pushed out to the millions of your paying subscribers. It’s ironic that Babble wants to endlessly persist with their annoying prompts - that they refuse to allow their paying customers to turn off - in a war of attrition attempting to get their users to pleeeeease just Allow or Turn On Notifications for their app. They tell us that it’s to ‘encourage’ dedication and consistency in our study habits. And then they engage in sloppy DebOps practices that wipeout their users Daily Streaks… This isn’t the first time that this has happened.
