  • Reduced feature set.

I use Microsoft365 for my personal life and for my work—I have an account for each, respectively. On PC, it is seamless to toggle between accounts on apps like OneNote. It takes just a few clicks of the mouse. On Mac it requires that I fully log out of one account on every Microsoft365 app and log into another. The lack of this feature set on Mac when it works perfectly on PC is very frustrating.

I have used One Note for many years on the PC. I have also been using it on the Mac for about 4 years. Unfortunately, the design team that works on the Mac version chooses to hobble the applications so it doesn’t work as well as the windows version. There are many note taking applications out there that are better, but unfortunately they’re expensive. The best feature of OneNote is the built in Search. The absolute worst feature is the paste option. Paste and Match formatting does not work. It will always paste with the original formatting. There isn’t an option to paste as text. If you copy from OneNote and paste into a webpage, it will paste as an image, not as text. The work around is to paste into a text editor that is set to plain text and then immediately copy and paste into the website. So, in essence, it’s free with my subscription to Office. If it wasn’t, I would be using Evernote or something similar.

We all love MS Office and the powerful tools it offers, but OneNote truly stands out for organization and on-the-go note-taking. Whether it’s journaling, capturing meeting minutes, or brainstorming, OneNote makes it seamless to transition between devices—whether it’s an iPhone, PC, or MacBook—without any concerns about data loss. I especially appreciate the flexibility it offers in customizing pages to suit how my mind works, with different note sections on the same page. The tabbed interface also keeps my outlines and projects perfectly organized. OneNote has been a fantastic addition to the Office suite, and it has become an essential part of my daily routine.

The app works better than it had in the past. Syncing has improved greatly and the pen function continues to improve. I would like to see the settings adjusted so that I can set defaults to a small eraser instead of a stroke eraser. The PDF import and markup is one of the better on the market continues to be a reason I use the app.

I don't need your cloud services Microsoft. You already deleted ALL of my notebooks, but luckily I had a backup on an old computer. Unfortunately I cannot open these unless I re-sync to OneDrive again. Thanks.. but NO THANKS.

Microsoft’s support is non-existent for this product. I run it on Mac (I’d prefer PC, but work makes me), and it started having sync issues. Then it told me to sync - poof, I lost the data and the cloud backup. NOBODY TO CALL AT MICROSOFT. I have bought items as banal as dish wands and got a customer support number. But for computers and vanishing product, nothing, nada. How much money do you make a year to not support us?

My phone kept saying that old note is created in older version and can't be synced. Switching to Mac and the note simply doens't load at all. It's been like this for months. No help.
  • Has so much potential, but falls short

As a "note" taking app, it lacks such small features, such something siimple as a "increase/decrease font" option to make it easier to keep everything formatted the same realative to each thing you're doing. Also, being able to add secondary "notes" or highlights/comments to certain portions of a note would be nice too. also, freedom of placing different images is frustrating, as it doesn't provide you the abiity to place an object/picture anywhere you want, it has "pre-selected" portions, so when trying to make fine-tune movements to get everything lined up, you're sometimes left with uneven notes or things that aren't aesthitically pleasing. I believe this app could be so much better and be of a universal tool, however it lacks some simple details that make it frustrating and often I will opt for something else to take notes in.
