Cricut has really stepped up their game. I had almost given up because of the size limitation alone. I love some of the new features. I’ve been away from the app. for a while, so I was pleasantly surprised.

I like the fact that I can print from my phone but there’s a lot of features missing and it’s too small to take away details and do the things I wanna do if I was using a laptop.
  • Unable to access my projects. Very frustrating.

Cricut Design Space is a powerful tool with a lot of creative potential, but it comes with its fair share of challenges. Most of the time, I enjoy using it, but there are moments when it can be frustrating. One major thing to note is that Design Space is a large program that requires the right device to run smoothly. When I first started, I bought a Chromebook to use with my Cricut machine and app, only to discover that Chromebooks aren’t compatible. Unfortunately, by the time I figured this out, it was too late to return the Chromebook, and I had to purchase a second laptop that was compatible. While I could have avoided this issue by reading the fine print, it’s still inconvenient that such a common device isn’t supported. Even with a compatible laptop, the program can still feel too big to run smoothly. On my iPad Pro, it crashes constantly, which you can imagine becomes very frustrating over time. On my laptop, it freezes and glitches more often than I’d like, and crashes have caused me to lose projects in progress. It’s especially frustrating when this happens mid-cut, as I then have to start over—sometimes at an extra cost in materials. A feature to resume projects after a crash (as long as the machine isn’t unloaded) would solve a lot of headaches. Print-to-Cut is the most frustrating of all, and my most used feature (yay me). I have great Wi-Fi yet it loses connection all the time. Sometimes it wont even connect at all and i am forces to restart both machines. Also when uploading an image from my gallery and then going through the process of removing the background if needed and making sure its all good and the way you want it, I go to press upload and it comes up and says upload failed. For whatever reason. Enough to make me wanna pull my hair out. Also to note with print-to-cut is when I prompt Design Space to go through my printers interface after I press print, which then it pops up my printer options page where I can further tweak certain things, like print quality, paper type, etc. If i then press print and the screen flashes all white 1 time, i know its downhill from there. It will send it to my printer but as soon as the paper gets pulled in it pauses and then just spits out a blank paper. No matter what i do differently or if i dont prompt it to use my printers interface I am 100% of the time forced to completely restart my laptop, and my Cricut Machine. If it doesn’t flash that white screen 1 time then I know its going to print fine. I cannot tell you why it does this. I have tried troubleshooting and have come up with nothing. Another gripe is the subscription model. If you’re paying monthly, certain premium images—like Disney, Marvel, or Sesame Street designs—should be included. It’s disappointing that these require additional purchases when they could be part of the subscription perks. That said, I do use Cricut Design Space every day and enjoy much of what it offers. I think the options for creating a project are almost endless. There are some many amazing things you can do with Design Space and with your Cricut. So much so people have turned their creativity into their careers. Which I think is just fantastic. It’s a great program with tons of features for creating amazing projects, but it does need some improvements. The key takeaway: make sure your device is compatible and powerful enough to handle the app, or you’re likely to run into issues. If you’re using an iPad Pro, I’d say skip it for now. For desktops or laptops, it’s worth trying as long as your device can handle the software. Overall, Cricut Design Space is a solid app with lots of potential—it just needs better optimization and usability features. Despite the flaws, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you give it a shot.
  • Fix bugs by giving a worse one…? Not cool

Frustrating!! Can’t cut anything. The app won’t follow through with cutting. I have orders I need to fill, but can’t because this version may have fixed some bugs, but looks like it’s provided an even worse one…? 🤷🏻‍♀️ I hope this is resolved very quickly!
