  • Great app, bad name

The app works great and does exactly what you need it to. The developer team has done a great job. Whoever in the marketing department decided to rename this app just lost it two stars though. The old name was descriptive of its function while the new one sums up Microsoft as a company: in your face advertisement.

Can’t get logged in for the last three hours. Microsoft is pathetic. Well done Satya. Amazing things you’re doing over there.
  • Another good app purchased by Microsoft to be thrown in the woodchipper

they immediately change settings without permission to monitor everything you do and send telemetry back. Intelligence agencies have nothing on these dirtbags.
  • Basic RDP Client

For basic RDP to a Windows machine it does the trick. I wish there were ways to group connections, but all I can see is that all the connections are on one screen, no subfolders or group folders allowed. The only problem I have encountered is that it doesn’t yet support logging into Windows desktops that are connected to a microsoft account unless you disable the PIN authentication (which seems to require you to disconnect from the microsoft account).
  • App support link

Why does link lead to a Windows Server help page? Better yet let me know how to right click and I’ll leave you alone. Otherwise I’m pleased with this app.
  • Problematic for My Use Case

For the most part, the app works well - definitely better than most other options I've tried. As an IT guy who occasionally needs to work remotely though, it's essentially useless to me. A while back, it seems, a change was made to the key encoding sent from the app to the remote system to improve compatibility with remote keyboards but in doing so, it broke the ability to interact with anything beyond the remote system (e.g. virtual machines or remote sessions). This has been a niche but longstanding problem with no response from Microsoft for years now but it should be so simple to solve - introduce a toggle for "standard" or "enhanced" key compatibility at the least or do something a bit more elegant that I don't have an example for at the moment. Would love to see this updated and then could happily give the app 5 stars and stop relying on third party alternatives.

Third party apps work better than the official Microsoft app. Shame.
