The game is pretty fun but it lags so much! I constantly have to close the app and restart. I’m an iPhone XR.

Monster Hunter Now is one of the better mobile games on the market, especially if you enjoy the specific genre of “AR” walking games. The monsters look and act true to their mainline counterparts, and the variety of weapons/armor is impressive. My major complaint with this game is the classic Niantic monetization. Unlike the mainline games, healing items cannot be crafted. In fact, item crafting is completely absent, with the exception of gear. You have to spend premium currency to purchase health items, which is truly absurd. I am more likely to spend real money on customization, shaders, etc. than what should be a basic feature. Even Pokémon Go allows potions/balls/etc. to be gathered via pokestops. I have taken large breaks from this game due to the monetization practices, and do not play nearly as often as I would if it was more respectful of player’s time and money. I have several great recommendations for how to make money while respecting the player base. Feel free to contact me if you’d like to discuss.

If we can’t have a potion crafting system, I wouldn’t mind if getting extra free potions be locked behind watching ads, I just feel that anything with potions being more accessible to obtain would benefit the game and allow for longer sessions, thank you.
  • I don’t understand some of the complaints.

I take my dog for a walk, I play. I go out to run a mile or two, I play. Grocery shopping, play. Monsters spawn hourly. Biomes also reset and are easily found if you understand the map and are willing to walk a few blocks. The game demands more movement than a few other Niantic games, but these games are SUPPOSED to get you outside and moving. I don’t get why people complain about not being able to play while standing still. That’s just not the intention for any of these games. The “passenger” dilemma is not even an argument. The beginning can be tough with stronger monsters almost one-shotting you, but Divine Blessing is available VERY early and almost makes the game unfair as you progress. I used to use up all 5 potions daily, now I hunt 40+ monsters a day and sometimes maybe need 2-3 potions per day. You’ll probably also encounter a handful of monsters you can’t beat within the time limit. That’s ok. Challenges are good. You will get better, and have better equipment as you play. My only problem with the game is the restrictions on the item box and paintball markers. The only way of storing more items requires purchases. I’d appreciate ANY ways of expanding that through playing for free. The first few purchases are budget-friendly through the discounts. Ten dollars gets you a long way, and it’s not a bad investment on something I spend so many hours playing. Eventually you run into a bigger pay wall than I’m comfortable with. 5 stars because the game is absolutely playable, and IMO better than PoGo. And I love PoGo.

I just wish for the fact that when you say “I’m not the driver” it would still allow us to play because we’re not the driver
  • Can be more enjoyable!

This game is great. I love everything about it. My only issue is… I’m disabled. I’ve ran into this problem with more than a couple games. Life is what it is, this game rocks.

Controls are terrible. Swipe up to combo, swipe up to move forward. Monsters always go far away so you’re constantly swiping up to move, but some genius also put that input in your attack combo. Material drops are garbage too. Another game just made for micro transactions. Do yourself a favor and don’t take the bait.
