Description

HINGE, DESIGNED TO BE DELETED Hinge is the dating app for people who want to get off of dating apps. With profiles that show your personality through text, photos, video, and voice, you have unique conversations that lead to great dates. And it’s working. Currently, people on Hinge go on a date every three seconds. Additionally, in 2022, we were the fastest-growing dating app in the US, UK, and Canada. HOW WE GET YOU OFF HINGE When it comes to online dating, people are so busy matching that they’re not actually connecting, in person, where it counts. Hinge is on a mission to change that. So we built an app that’s designed to be deleted. Here’s how: * We quickly learn your type. You’ll only be introduced to the best people for you. * We give you a sense of someone’s personality. You’ll get to know potential dates through their unique answers to prompts, as well as information like religion, height, politics, dating intentions, relationship type, and much more. * We make it easy to start a conversation. Every match begins by someone liking or commenting on a specific part of your profile. * We want you to feel confident about meeting people in person. Selfie Verification makes it easier for daters on Hinge to ensure that they are who they say they are. * We ask how your dates are going. After exchanging phone numbers with a Match, we’ll follow up to hear how your date went so we can make better recommendations in the future. The app is free to use. Members looking to see everyone who likes them or send unlimited likes can upgrade to Hinge+. To access additional features, including enhanced recommendations and priority likes, we offer HingeX. App seems to not work. When I click on the New Here, Near Me, or Active Today NO ONE comes up. The Compatible tab only gives me maybe one person day. That is impossible. I live in a metro area with over 1 million people. The only way to get those tabs to work is to Review Skipped Profiles but then you have to weed through everyone you already skipped. And yes, my preferences are set correctly. So NOT worth the money!

Match owns an umbrella of sites. Terrible customer service on one site = banned on all platforms. Another business lost to corporate greed and 0 benefit to the people investing in the service.

To send more likes costs money, not many at least majority like to use this app for free. Unfortunately, the people that this app brings is specific. I had better prospects when I was blonde. Interrupt that information as you see fit….

As someone who was very hesitant about dating apps in general, and takes a lot of steps to minimize my safety risk, I really like Hinge! 1. Hinge’s policies I’m a picky person anymore when it comes to social apps and personal privacy. I read the terms of service and privacy policy in their entirety. I’ve read TOS before so I’m familiar, though I am not a lawyer by any means, but I approve of the policies! (I read them in February 2024) In fact, I ONLY liked Hinge’s policies. I read a few other dating app policies and TOS and did not like the other ones. -One of their big safety policies is that they won’t tell you why you’ve been banned. A lot of people complain about this. Please let me share: if someone reports being SA by someone, Hinge is not going to tell the offender that they were reported for SA, because then the offender could retaliate. If you were reported for something smaller like inappropriate content or behavior, Hinge won’t tell you either BECAUSE of deductive reasoning. If a SA offender doesn’t get a reason for their suspension, but a content offender DOES, the SA offender could use deductive reasoning to figure things out. That’s why Hinge won’t tell you why you were banned. It’s also in the TOS. -I also like that they have advice articles on personal safety like not putting the name of your workplace or anything that would be a pinpoint identifier, and setting up a support system for when you go to meet strangers in person for the first time. They also tell you how you can reach out to Hinge for safety help. 2. Filter settings I like the parameters you can set for free, especially as a dealbreaker. If you use the dealbreaker function, say for distance, Hinge will neither show you prospectives who are outside of your preference nor will they show you as a prospective to others! If you don’t mark “dealbreaker”, I think it will generally stay within your parameter but may take liberties if the algorithm thinks you’ll match with someone, and you’ll be shown to others outside your ideal parameter. A different app I’ve used (Ur My Type) has settings like distance, but it only works one way, so if I set a distance limit, my prospectives will be within my parameters but I’ll still be shown to other people who have a wider range. 3. Things I would change If I could have one more filter for free (including the dealbreaker), it would be family planning. That feels like such a HUGE part of dating. I think the setting option is a bigger issue for people who feel strongly about having children or living child-free. People who pick “open to children” or “not sure” seem less likely to be bothered if their prospects don’t have the same choice selected. But, I’m on one far end of the family planning spectrum, and I feel very strongly about it. I still get people who send me likes who are on the complete opposite end of the spectrum. It feels like they’re disregarding my wishes, so I wish I could automatically filter them out. Feedback for devs: -Audio messages will stop if the person starts typing, sends a message, or likes a message. Audio messages also have to restart and play through the entire clip, there’s no skipping around or pause. That can get really irritating when it’s a long audio message. The simple fix is to let the messaging die down before listening, but who wants to halt their conversation? -Chat will move up and down the page if the other person is typing. When I’m reading a long message, or reading several, and the person is still writing, the text on screen will jump around and not stay still while I read. That’s really frustrating. -Can we get dark mode?
  • Banned For No Reason!!!

I love this app and it was extremely helpful in meeting new people around me, but all of a sudden today I was banned. I have yet to break any rules, and when I submitted my appeal to retrieve my account back, they just told me I was banned for good. I can’t stress enough how frustrating it is to be banned when you are not in the wrong. To make it worse, they wouldn’t even tell me what I was banned for.
