Description

Researchers at Monash University have developed the low FODMAP diet and a corresponding app to assist in the management of gastrointestinal symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The Monash University FODMAP diet works by swapping foods high in fermentable carbohydrates (FODMAPs), with low FODMAP alternatives. Around 75% of people with IBS experience symptom relief on a low FODMAP diet. The app comes directly from the research team at Monash and includes the following: - General information about the FODMAP diet and IBS. - Easy to understand tutorials to guide you through the app and the 3-Step FODMAP diet. - A Food Guide detailing the FODMAP content for hundreds of foods using a simple 'traffic light system'. - A list of branded products that have been certified by Monash as low FODMAP. - A collection of over 70 nutritious, low FODMAP recipes. - Functions that allow you to create your own shopping list and add notes to individual foods - A Diary that enables you to record food eaten, IBS symptoms, bowel habits and stress levels. The Diary will also guide you through step 2 of the diet - FODMAP reintroduction. - The ability to adjust units of measurement (metric or imperial) and activate colour blindness assistance.

The diary should be integrated with the food database to do personalised analysis of the effects and outcomes. The food database should be more sophisticated; i.e., deeper and broader in order to provide information about food and beverages available and consumed, and capable of gathering these data by UPC scans.

My doctor recommended a low FODMAP diet and I’m so happy I found this app. Through the elimination diet phase I was able to determine I have a fructan sensitivity. Unfortunately fructans are in so many foods, I find myself using the app almost daily to look up various ingredients to see if they will bother me. I would be lost without the app’s database. I recommend it to everyone trying to figure out their food issues!

If you know a few foods that trigger you, you can quickly figure out what category they belong to and then start to eliminate foods from those categories. There are foods that I didn’t even know triggered me, but this app helped me identify them, eliminating the guessing game I’ve been going through for decades. For example, there are foods that utterly surprised me as fructans and sorbitols. This app so handy at the grocery store or dinners out at restaurants. I would now be lost without it. I think in another year or so I won’t need it anymore, as I will have my trigger foods all identified. This app truly changed my life.

thought this would be really helpful as i'm navigating ibs/low fodmaps. but it really doesn't have a lot of features and would benefit from a more guided navigation of how to reintegrate the low fodmaps. the foods are only categorized by sorbitol/fructose/etc which can be hard to figure out which foods are what, and only has a few limited foods available for logging. it also doesn't include foods like bacon that are relevant in the fat content, for example, that i'd benefit from. not able to personalize diet triggers to the user.

I am finding this app extremely useful and helpful. I would love to see a section on EXERCISE with all the various sections for Diary, Notes, Bathroom habits, etc. I’m not trying to log and record my workouts - just something simple like exercise Y/N, type (ie cardio, weights, meditation) and length of time. Would be so helpful to see this easily in my recap of the day.

Rated 1 for immediately giving my email away to spammers, and for the embedded ads. For a paid app this is unacceptable.

This app is a game changer. It is THE best resource for what foods are and aren’t low fodmap and how much you can have of each.
  • Love it
