    It’s pretty nice there are people that want to help you learn their countries language there’s even some group talks available for this and not just a private message the app is great the only downfall is that sometimes guys can be a bit flirtatious but they provide a report and block option for these reasons which is great

  • Lacks dark mode, even for paying members

    I was a paying member, and I have been requesting dark mode for years. It’s not a difficult feature to add, and most contemporary apps include a dark mode than can be automatically or at least manually activated. I spend time studying languages for bed, and staring at a bright screen is extremely disruptive to a good nights sleep. Until dark mode is added, I won’t pay a cent for HT. Update: three years later dark mode was added. 4 stars because there is too much “pay-to-play” for a language learning app.

    This app was good about two years ago. Was full of kids trying to meet friends from other countries. But now it’s absolutely disgusting. I logged on after two years and a lot of men kept asking me for naked pictures. There should be a filter for this app because this is not ok. I don’t recommend this app any more. Everyone is over 21 and all are disgusting.

  • The chat history doesn’t sync between devices

    I use both my laptop and phone for the language exchange, but the chats and chat history and pretty much everything else does not sync between devices (only the following/follower list syncs lol) so it’s like using two separate accounts since almost nothing gets carried over which is super frustrating since some things are easier to learn on a laptop rather than on the phone and vis versa. Other than this, it’s a great platform.

    I have had this app since 2017, I have a lifetime subscription. I dislike the fact that the benefits haven’t included a monthly amount of coins and that you have to pay for it. The classes aren’t included in the benefits as well. I also have been a tester since 2018 and as a tester it would be beneficial for them to have access to these features in order to give back effective feedback. Exposure is also pretty poor, I’m struggling to connect with people who also are serious about learning languages compared to a few years ago. It’s almost not worth the money I’ve invested.
