New subscription model is a scam

I used to be a Scribd customer several years ago and loved it. I came back because Everand had an audiobook my library hasn't acquired yet. When I subscribed, it put me on a legacy plan and then told me the audiobook was only available under one of the new plans. I switched to the standard plan, and then it turned out Everand didn't actually have the book at all. I don't know who's making decisions at this company, but they're doing a terrible job. You've devalued this product to the point of being a scam, and I genuinely feel I bought a subscription under false pretenses since you literally do not have the book I signed up for.
They ruined it to make more money

I have had Everand awhile now but I guess they decided they can make more money so they changed the set up. Now you pay for 3 unlocks a month and they claim to have a lot of free books to read other than that but those books are all low quality random subjects. Under romance it had like 20 books. Shame on you everand I’m canceling my subscription.
Doesn’t work without a connection to the Internet

The subscription is a great deal. Unfortunately the app does not measure up to the subscription. If you’re not connected to the Internet, it will not load your content. Including downloaded content. This makes no sense to me, but there you have it. When the app finally loads, it says you have no downloaded content. This is after several minutes of waiting. As soon as you are connected to the Internet, everything loads up properly, and the downloaded content is easily available.
Please fix this
Doesn’t work offline

App has not worked offline in months. You can download your books but if you try to access them offline app freezes. Very little customer support. They always respond that they are updating app to new version and it will fix issue but it never does. Than they will tell you the next update will…. And than it doesn’t again. They will never offer you anything for the months your paying full price for an app that isn’t working fully.

Hate that books I was able to read for the standard subscription can now only be read if you upgrade it to the plus subscription… what kind of stupid upgrade is this???
Unacceptable Unethical Subscription Clause

Their customer service literally said I was confused…
It's seems the new company’s leadership, is the one that got confused and misplaced their values!
Before the new business model of this company (formerly Scribt) decided to split into 3 different services, I was a huge fan.
Well, not anymore…
I decided to cancel my paid subscription because I wasn’t able to keep up with Premium titles, naively thinking it will be the same as Audible, accessible in my library. Nope.
They turn ALL premium titles you previously obtain OFF, if you cancel paid subscription…
Meaning, I cannot listen to audio books I got with my monthly credits while I was a paid subscriber. That means I’ve paid in months and months for Premium Titles I didn’t cash in AND I can no longer listen to those.
Is this a joke?
It is absolutely ridiculous and highly unethical.
It essentially forces the customer to be paying JUST TO BE ABLE TO LISTEN to the previously obtained (Premium) titles.
It’s like going to a book store to buy a book, then be charged a monthly fee for being able to pick it off your own book shelf at home to read.
After about 3-5 back and forth email exchanges with their customer service… they refused to provide a workable solution and unlock my titles.
I have about 5 premium titles I was still finishing at my own pace. Well, now they are lost and I would rather pay Audible (as much as I hate Amazon) to avoid this kind of shady business practices.
Truthfully, this is absolutely unacceptable and I hope they take this concern very seriously.
Here was my last response to them going back and forth with useless points about them “not selling books” and offering the access through publishing partners”, bundling 3 different apps/services, and apologies/empty promises of “striving to continuously improve their service”. All while zero solution was offered:
“I have an audible account. It also gets its titles from the partners. I can listen to ANY of the ones in my library, previously obtained with credits while I was a subscriber. When I canceled my paid subscription, I continued having full access to previously obtained titles.
Your company's business model and your fine approach to customer service only made it a complete no-brainer for a loyal customer to switch to your competitors permanently.”
I don’t love the unlocks

I still enjoy the platform for audiobooks, but I can’t stand the new unlock feature. If they insist on adding it, at least allow them to roll over each month and/or add an option to buy more like Audible. Everand/Scribd was my preferred audiobook app for new releases, but now I hardly use it because I’m so careful on how I use my premium account. And that’s with three unlocks every month.

The app accepts payment but still asks you to subscribe; the website does the same. I just lost $16.99(+tax).
