It’s a great free video maker, but limiting resolution to 1080p and video to 16x9 is really unnecessary, just to get people to buy the pro app.

This app is great for any beginner wanting to gain experience in the editing program. In order to enjoy this app you must study the tools and how to properly save all your projects. Give it a try, it’ll be worth it.

iMovie clearly has its faults, but as a beginner, I actually really like it because it’s easy to use and well integrated with the Apple ecosystem. I’ve used to make multiple short youtube videos, some presentations for classes, and some other movies just for fun, and I find the whole thing very usable and understandable. I do wish it had things like more music options, better text boxes, different kinds of fading, etc, so I would definitely want something more if I was using it every day. Still, I think it works perfectly for my use case and I’m very satisfied!

why the heck does mobile have soundtracks and mac version doesn't??? since i can't make good music on garageband and imovie on mac doesn't have so good music, there is no other choice but i'm on mac and the mobile version has MUCH better music that even loops!!! PLEASE ADD IT OR I'LL EAT YOUR PHONE!!!!

I don’t know what I would do without this amazing app. I have made countless birthday presents with this. Helps create clips, and probably my favorite app from Apple Inc!!

I just downloaded this and there is no obvious way to edit my videos that i uploaded. Its very weird - editing reels on instagram is so much more straight forward. I have a lot of experience with that and so I thought this would be a breeze but I literally can't figure it out.

I had to about 100 different videos from a football game from two different phones. I uploaded my videos first, and then recieved an airdrop of the rest of the videos. When I uploaded the airdropped videos, they entered into the "my movie" tab in chronological order with my own videos. It is amazing. I am so glad all of my videos are in order even though they are from different sources and they were uploaded at different times.
  • Legacy users be damned

So I have a ton of iMovie projects made in version 9.0.9, and I have no way to open them anymore. When I go to update the project files in iMovie, it simply "cannot find any Projects or Events to update" and there are no options to refine the search or select specific folders. Sadly this is the only use I would realistically have for this app. Terrible. Simply terrible.
  • No Sync Option with iOS

I’m sitting here trying to edit and post a time lapse for school, and there is no way to sync content between my phone and my MacBook. Whaaaat? I truly do not understand Apple’s totally derelict approach to software design and updating. When I use their software I get the same feeling I have when someone has moved my stuff around and I can’t find it. If it isn’t clear from what I have said already, PROJECTS SHOULD AUTOMATICALLY SYNC BETWEEN DEVICES. At the moment, I have to export it, and even then it exports into Quick Time rather than iMovie. Just let that sink in (no pun intended.). Total waste of time.
