  • Good app to listen to newspaper but needs changes

Please change the narration setting to stop switching narrator voices every paragraph. It decreases continuity of the story and is distracting Otherwise a very good option to listen to news articles
  • Press Reader Hates Apple Users

I signed up for a 7 day trial with my Apple ID. I wanted to purchase a book and got a dialog that says if I purchase a book on Press Reader ON THE WEB then I can read a book in the app as long as I use the same credentials as the app. So I go to the web to learn I can’t Sign in with Apple. If the app takes users for granted like this it really doesn’t engender long term trust. There’s no doubt that oversight like this comes from using cut-rate developers and I imagine there are MANY other foibles in this platform that clearly has zero empathy for users and expects users to solve all of the developers technical debt. Sure I can sign up under a sign in that WILL WORK on the web but at this point I’ve burned an hour and already canceled my trial.
  • Has this app changed recently?

I subscribe to The New York Times (not through PressReader but from the paper itself. I use PressReader because the paper is the facsimile version and looks exactly like the print edition.) Until April 2024, my issues were downloaded automatically to my iPhone and iPad. Now I only receive the paper on my iPhone and can’t access any back issues. Has PressReader started charging if you want to access a subscription on more than one device?

This app accuses me of taking screenshots when I HAVEN’T been doing that at all!! And then bans me from reading a publication I’ve had access to for along time!! This has happened in the past with bad advice from the tech idiots at Pressreader!! Now update on 4/22/24. Pressreader is now preventing me from downloading thru my library account on my ipad even tho i csn do it on my iphone. Support asked for a screenshot of what i am trying to do but i cant upload it due to limits on attachments to my email.
  • Sign in with Apple ID does not work

Reported this and the vendor suggested creating an account on the website. If they can’t make Apple ID work, they shouldn’t have it as an option. App deleted. Will look for alternatives.

    Good app
  • Annoying to use

There are some features that make this pretty annoying to use. The biggest to me is library access…why do I need to type in my library card number every time I try to use this? Super annoying! Learn from an app like Libby that can actually remember this information. You sure can remember asking for payment every time I open the app.
  • Can’t view content/no support

I tried to purchase a paper through the app. It took the payment but I can’t use the paper, it just wants me to pay again when I try to view it. Nowhere on the app is a method to contact the app company for problems or support either.
