Read comfortably day and night with adjustable brightness and background colors. Go to the Aa menu in your book to get started. • Look up words, people, and places while you read. Simply tap and hold a word to view its definition, or use the Google and Wikipedia links to get more information. • Track your reading progress. See what percent of the book you’ve read, real page numbers (for most top titles), and how much time you have left in the chapter or book based on your actual reading speed. • Bookmark places you want to revisit, and make highlights and take notes throughout your book. Open My Notebook to see all your notes in the same place. • Hop, skim, and jump with Page Flip. Flip between pages or get a bird’s-eye view of your book with Page Flip—don’t worry, we’ll save your place. • Zoom in on high-definition color images in Kindle books, magazines, comics, and manga. • Sync your books across devices. When you’re reading a book, the Kindle app will automatically sync where you left off—along with any bookmarks, highlights, or notes—so you can start reading on one device and pick up where you left off on another. • When you can’t read, listen. Switch seamlessly from reading your Kindle book to listening to the Audible book, all within the Kindle app. • Get notified when authors you love have new releases. By using this app, you agree to Amazon’s Conditions of Use (www.amazon.com/conditionsofuse) and Privacy Notice (www.amazon.com/privacy).

I just always want an update. No matter what, the natural consideration to make changes while using it is felt.

Update to the app has a critical bug. Side slider for scrolling will always display. It gets in the way of text for reading with continuous scrolling enabled. The side slider used to disappear allowing all the text to be read, and no spoilers in how much further until the end of the book. I like not knowing how many pages are left as I read. The scroller slider thing slowly moves lower as you read indicating where you are in the book.

I've started using the Kindle app instead of any other book reader. Notes and highlights work better. Cross device sync works better. Love it!!

I love dis app. I love it because I’m in 4th grade battle of the books. It has some of the books. I’m happy of this app because kids can just tap on this app and a door to a whole new world opens. They can get inspired and write a book that will inspire others. So of course I will rate it a 5

This book hit me deep in the soul. The main character endures so many traumas and keeps getting back up to heal and help others.
  • I'll not update. Thanks.

My old 1.40.3 version seems to have more options than the latest version, and after reading all the recent-version, one-star reviews (April 2024), I'll just keep what I have and wait for Amazon to get it right. I guess there's no money to be made for Amazon in Kindle for Macbook...
  • Great app for reading novels in a second language.

Been working on my French for a few years (took several years in high school, but that’s a while ago!) I think I’m generally at a B2 level, and I find that when reading paper novels, there are sometimes just slightly too many words or expressions where the meaning isn’t quite clear. You can guess from context, but it feels like the uncertainty accumulates and after a while you’ve just lost the flow of things. And stopping to look things up in a dictionary means putting the book down and losing the flow too. But on the kindle app, you just highlight the word, and the explanation is right there, first in French, then in English. I have to say, it’s been a game changer for me, allowing me to read novels for pleasure, and maintain enough flow that the story remains interesting, and not some kind of homework-like chore. Minus one star for not maintaining highlighted passages across devices, so that when I highlight things on my phone, they don’t show up on the iPad, and vice versa.
