  • The radar on the weather app is useless

    The radar on this app is not actual. It seems to be just a approximation. I was sitting here when it was raining and it showed that the rain had passed. Then I went to a competitor who had a real radar and it showed that it was a whole different picture of the actual radar.

    I’ve never written a review for any product or app before but I feel like I’ve been pushed to do so. I’m a long time weather channel user for their reliability and quick coverage; however, in recent years the sheer number of ads y’all have implemented in your app has driven me insane. I can’t click from the front page to the hourly weather report without a huge screen filling ad I can’t click out of. There’s an ad immediately upon opening the app, there’s an ad when I scroll even half an inch down the screen, there’s an ad always on the bottom banner that moves as I move down the screen. Furthermore, the weather channel app is Far slower than it ever used to be because they now prioritize loading the 10 million ads on the screen before loading the actual weather. I can’t stand it. I vividly remember when my area was facing extreme flash flooding and I couldn’t check the radar without first loading 3 small ads and then having to load a whole screen filling ad immediately after before I could see if my home would be affected. This is sheer corporate greed and it’s incredibly disappointing to see such a noble service like the weather channel give in to, and even prioritize, invasive money making schemes like these before their job. Sad.

    Changed the whole design of the app and it’s awful. 2 updates ago it was great. I could find everything easily and had all the info I needed. Now it’s cumbersome to use, color scheme/design is awful, print is small. It won’t open on the home page of my phone. Rendering it useless. I’m deleting this app. Let me know when you go back to the old design/layout.

    Previous useful features disappeared: ability to see today’s hourly UV, feel like, humidity etc. in one place. Now I have to click and expand each hour to see these stats.

    Love the Weather Channel-always on time and provides much needed INFORMATION-I also watch my families cities in other states and it sends me their alerts so I always prepare them and let them know what is coming if they don’t know-I always recommend this Weather Channel-again Love love

    I don’t mind ads for the most part. On this app they don’t black the whole screen and pop up every 2 seconds, but on the cover of the main weather for that moment, on the main page, the ad is too much. Where there is usually a pretty picture of how the weather looks like outside, that picture disappears after a second and is replaced with an ad. When I see an ad do that, it doesn’t make we want the product more, it just makes me dislike it. Other than that the app works great.
