  • Add lasso/select tool

App is ok now, but without a lasso tool, you need lots of tracks, which can get disorienting. With groups, it is negated, but I would still love a lasso tool for other uses, such as for making pieces of shrapnel, or for displacing text for a glitch effect. (Response back to developer: I do very much appreciate that you are continuing to work on dreams, it really just needs to be refined, such as the lasso tool.)

I love animating and I currently use FlipaClip but I can’t make detailed drawing in FlipaClip unless I have a subscription, so I use procreate to draw and put those drawings in which is very time consuming. I was excited when an animating app from the devs of procreate came out, but this app isn’t really like procreate and I can’t make the drawings I want to because of how weird it works.

It’s better than procreate’s built-in animation feature, but it’s fairly hard to use. It records every move you make, so you can’t just move something that’s in the wrong place without it becoming part of the animation. I’m beginning to question if it was worth 20 dollars. Although it is a good animation app, there are definitely a lot of improvements that could be made. It’s generally hard to work with, and is missing a lot of features that could be added. However, it does have features that procreate was missing, such as layers and the ability to add audio.

Would rather animate with my blood on a jaggedy rock than this ‘animation software’
  • Great tool for animation

I am completely new to animation and have only dabbled in digital art. I can’t review Procreate Dreams from the professional perspective, but as a beginner, it was very easy to learn. Yes, there are plenty of things I wish it had, but they literally just released it. I’m a huge fan.

Actual animation features are very cool but kinda disappointed bc there aren’t key features like the lasso tool and select tool. I’m also getting lots of bugs like pixel change when zooming in, redo bugs, and even the app just not opening.

When purchasing the app for 20 bucks, I was expecting it to have the same features as the normal procreate we have come to love with the addition of more features. That was not the case and sadly I have been disappointed. This app is very limiting and makes it hard to animate properly. I ended up just doing my rough animated drafts on this app and doing my actual polished work on the regular procreate. I find it unhelpful that I would have to jump through hoops to get the results I want because the app has been very limiting. Not worth the 20 bucks at all. If you are considering getting started on animation, this app is not the way to go. This app has a lot of work to be done, and I do believe that there is a lot of potential here, but that has not been realized yet.

Adding image sequences just makes one long track and just makes use of the first image selected what was the point of allowing multiple image selections if they just disappear. Make it import multiple images as frames. Can’t extend one frame in the track without moving every frame, I assumed extending one frame would move the rest but manually moving every frame is frustrating. Can’t lock tracks in case I accidentally touch it. This app feels more like a video editor rather than hand drawn animation workflow.
  • I prefer animation on regular procreate.

Let me just start off by saying, it’s a good idea, but something went wrong in the process. I feel like $20 is way too much. The brushes are annoying, the undo button is nonexistent as far as I can tell, and not to mention trying to import GIFs onto it (it’s how I export animations on regular Procreate) doesn’t work. It really could be better, but it also could be worse.
