  • Not bad

My only gripe is how difficult it is to share anything you read. FTEdit is only available on iPhone (and is required to read the share links). Not everyone has an iPhone and not everyone wants to have to download an app in order to read one 800 word essay.
  • Solid app, delay in fetching new stories.

I’m trying out the FT Edit because many of my friends have recommended the FT as a paper with relevant and interesting journalism. So far, I am enjoying the reporting. However, for some reason it takes far too long for the app to fetch the day’s stories, which I find frustrating. The Apple News app seems to fetch the most recent stories and will display them as published “4 hours ago” while the app will still have the stories from the previous day. If the developer can fix this I will be perfectly satisfied.

I use different devices and can’t use the app and subscription on Android. Would love to appreciate my subscription also on the bigger screen of my Android tablet but I can’t because there is no app for Android. I pay for a subscription and I expect to be able to use it on all my devices.

One of my ‘first of the day’ apps until they went to audio. A great news resource ruined.

Thank you. This was the missing piece of FT Edit!
  • Daily Dose of Sermons?

So the tagline for FT Edit is your Daily dose of expert news. Unfortunately, I think FT is confusing expert news with their opinion on the news or just plain soapboxing about their causes. For example, the 29 Mar edition included saving the world by going vegan. A previous day had a non-sequitur about conservatives ‘losing the war’ because to paraphrase, they won’t endorse left-wing social causes. I like the concept of FT Edit but the output doesn’t match and even with the lower trial price, it’s not worth it IMO.

A focused set of articles means anything silly or trending toward click bait (less of an FT problem than other media) is non exist
  • An Excellent Tool & Resource

This app is fantastic, fitting both my time and budget. I’d love to take in the full FT, but that’s just a pipe dream given I already get the NYT and Washington Post daily and The Economist weekly. Now I can read a few FT stories each day for a price that matches my consumption. Still, there’s a little room for improvement. It’d be great to be able to “gift” articles, as other paywalled publications allow. I’d also like to be able to send the full text of articles to my read-it-later app, Reader (from the developers of Readwise).
