Watch Duty is the only wildfire mapping and alert app powered by real people giving you real-time information vetted by trained professionals, not robots. All other apps rely on only government alerts which can be hours late or flat out non-existent. Watch Duty is run by active and retired firefighters, dispatchers, first responders, and reporters who monitor radio scanners in your area around the clock to bring you up-to-the-minute life saving information. Wildfire tracking features: - Push notifications about nearby wildfires and ongoing firefighting efforts - Real-time updates as conditions change - Active fire perimeters and progress - Infrared satellite hotspot from VIIRS and MODIS - Wind speed and direction - Evacuation orders & shelter information - Historical wildfire perimeters - Street and satellite maps - Air attack and air tanker flight tracker - Saved locations on the map Watch Duty is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that will always provide an unparalleled FREE service at no cost, forever. With a home in a rural area, I used to panic when I smelled smoke. Watch duty shows me how far away the fire is, and any evacuation orders.

*** I’M HAPPY TO PAY $2 A MONTH TO SUPPORT THIS SERVICE!!!*** I live in south central Oregon and this area, Klamath County, is prone to wildfires due to the dry climate, typical summer thunderstorms and then of course the wind which only feeds the flames. That said, lately I have been using this incredible Watch Duty App multiple times daily to check on nearby wildfires. I receive evacuation notices. This app helps me to feel more informed, more secure and less anxious as a result. Currently the Copperfield fire threatens our Chiloquin area (the fire is 5 miles from my town) and has grown to nearly 4K acres. Thankfully the winds are helping to keep the fire moving close to our town but, there are lots of residents, farmers and ranchers outside of town being hugely impacted by this fire. God be with them! Anyway, this Watch Duty Ap is a Godsend and I appreciate it and the folks behind the scenes making this possible.

I work in emergency 911dispatch and this app is what we tell citizens to go to for fire information. It is easy to read and simple to move around in. We also all have it open on our desk tops and reference regularly for knowledge. There are a lot of agencies working together on the bigs ones and this has all the info in one spot. This has been a tremendous discovery this year, and I will always use as a professional work tool to better serve the communities I serve, great partner.

Allows tracking of detailed information about individual fires with current updates. Can get overview of fire activity in a small or large region and zoom in on those fires you are interested in. Best fire app out there and used by professional firefighters as well.

We feel more secure when we have access to the app. We can travel and get alerts from Watch Duty. We can notify our neighbors if we end up with evacuations and they can take our animals with their own pets. We feel far more informed.
  • Best app I have

I’ve used numerous apps and websites for tracking wildfires in the USA, Canada and just south of the border Mexico, including the websites of official government agencies of Canada and the U.S. This is by far the best for accurate location maps, containment, perimeter, spread rate, fire cams, agencies responding, and frequent updates.

If you live in an area impacted or potentially impacted by wildland fires, you should have this app. It’s best at the pro level. Peace of mind early warnings, assists in planning for your safety.
