The app says sound identification is not yet available. 🙁

Was wondering how this app would work, but like many apps, before you have a good feel it charges you. The seven days creeps up in our busy life. Tired of this. Now on principle will not use though got suckered into paying for a year.

This game was advertised to me as Pokémon Go for bird watching. Yet, I’ve seen people complain that this is only for wild birds. Why not include a Not Wild check box for those people who want to track what they have seen? There are birds at the local zoo that I will never get a chance to see in the wild. Why should I be shamed for wanting to track that I’ve seen them? Overall great app. Very enjoyable, but make sure you have a good camera.

They now require full access to your photo library. Not okay! Also, they don’t seem very responsive to the super users on the platform who have been having a lot of issues with people stealing photos lately.

I was really excited about this app until discovering that it requires you to give FULL ACCESS TO YOUR ENTIRE CAMERA ROLL in order to upload a photo of a bird. There’s absolutely no reason it can’t be limited to the photos you intend to upload to the app. Disgusting, invasive practices. Ruined any desire I had to use what could’ve been a really cool app.

As of about 2 months ago a member by the name of Cooper Madison joined the platform and started to harass and steal photos from other members. This is still going on and is making many members angry and/or wanting to quit the app. When contacted about this, the development team and staff didn’t respond or do anything about it which is why I was lead to write this review along with many other members. This has to stop and I beg of the Birda team to please figure it out!

In setting up app I granted access to only select photos from my photo album but it won’t allow me to do anything without giving full access to my camera and photo albums. Deleting and finding an app that works.

I was so excited to use the app but I was devastated that not every bird species was included in the identification search. Unfortunately it is a sad truth that domestic birds get released in places they shouldn’t and affect the local ecosystem as a result. I was excited to contribute to data collection of unusual sightings of domestic birds in the areas I frequent but they’re not even an option in the bird ID search. :(

I’m NOT paying $36 to use a bird identifying app/social/game and give them my data and photos, too. Immediately deleting. I’ll stick with Merlin and eBird.

I have two bird apps and this one is the stronger of the two. It works well; its bird identifier is pretty good. Would be even better if I could upload videos. Otherwise it’s a good app for identifying and lighting birds.
