I tried this years ago and it still won’t keep my balances up to date. Try Monarch. It’s much better.

I’ve given some rough reviews over the years, but these folks have hung in there and are producing a fine app. The syncing between the iPad and Mac are much improved and work almost flawlessly as long as both apps are using the current version.

I have been a user for many years now. It keeps getting better and despite occasional frustrations they have the best support ever. It is native English speakers! They are personal, kind, helpful and actually care. As long as they never change that then I will stick with them.

I have been using Banktivity for years and the only thing I can say about it is that it is simple, accurate and it works. Keep up the good work.
  • Duplicates transactions

My biggest complaint was that transactions got duplicated in the downloads, which was hard to correct. I generally like the flexibility but the download connections are not as smooth as they could be. I used it for a year and then went back to Quicken.
  • Good function

I am setting up from scratch, moving from Quicken after Quicken trashed my database when it installed an “upgrade” So far Banktivity seems easy to learn and use. All the functionality I need is there and easy to find. Except the sync and backup procedures. Not easy to find, but I found them. Backup is manual and is up to me, the user. Cloud sync is scary. The files apparently go to a Banktivity server. I definitely do not trust the server. No problem. I have never had such a sync with Quicken so i will not miss it. UPDATE: The performance problem I was having disappeared when I got a new M4 iMac. Now I find it is not obvious how to edit a scheduled transaction. I had to go to the Banktivity web site and search for the answer how to do it. Awkward. Took me a while. But it is okay now.
  • Very good, except for one detail regarding the exchange rate.

I’ve been using Bankivity for over 10 years, and it has been an invaluable tool for managing my personal finances. However, I’ve encountered a couple of issues related to exchange rates that need improvement. First, the software does not automatically update exchange rates for the various currencies I use, which complicates tracking international accounts and funds. Second, when generating Worth Trend reports, Bankivity defaults to the most recent exchange rate, rather than the historical rate for the reporting period. This results in inaccuracies in the report, requiring me to manually download the values in their original currencies and adjust the data in Excel. These are the only areas where the tool falls short of an otherwise excellent experience.

Maybe it’s just me but I liked the older version that would populate the category depending on the person paid. If I pay my gardener every month, it should just populate Garden as a category as it used to remember. Now after typing the company, i have to type the category. Also, the instructions are not that great for changing payments to red and stuff like that. I’m=very been using it for over 15 years anyway.
