Description

Zero-setup Python environment and developer toolbox in a first-class citizen app for iPad and iPhone. Juno is designed to cover all your Python coding needs, and will work seamlessly with all source code formats. Juno supports both Python scripts (.py) and Jupyter notebooks (.ipynb) — a document format focused on applying Python to data analysis and computational science. FREE FEATURES - Navigate and manage files and folders, quickly preview documents and media - Browse and view Jupyter notebooks with quick and beautifully rendered previews - Navigate through code sources, scripts, JSON, XML, and other text-based formats with rich previews and syntax highlighting - Add quick access bookmarks for file system locations outside the app's sandbox, or simply open documents in place PRO FEATURES - Run code in Jupyter notebooks and Python sources locally on your device with a built-in Python 3.10 interpreter, entirely offline - Write and execute Python code in a full-fledged development environment, featuring snappy, intelligent code completion and a console with full terminal emulator support - Access all Jupyter features in a modern, powerful and customizable notebook editor - Leverage powerful data analysis, machine learning and developer tools: NumPy, Matplotlib, SciPy, Scikit-learn, Pandas, LXML, and more - View and edit any file as text in a built-in versatile plain text editor with syntax highlighting - Enjoy painless package management: easily install any pure Python package with an intuitive package manager PYTHON SCRIPTS Python scripts are plain-text Python source code files with a .py extension. Juno lets you work on these with snappy code completion, a console with full terminal emulator support, a built-in media viewer for code-generated images, plots, web apps, and more. Juno will execute the code using an embedded Python interpreter, locally on your iPhone or iPad and completely offline. JUPYTER NOTEBOOKS A Jupyter notebook is a versatile document format that enables you to store live code, markdown text, plots, images, and LaTeX equations — all within a single notebook file with a .ipynb extension. Notebooks serve as excellent Python coding playgrounds for data manipulation and experimentation, and Juno makes working with them a breeze! Notebook documents keep a record of all inputs and outputs from an interactive programming session, and the rich output generated by running Python scripts (including HTML, images, video, and plots) is embedded within the Jupyter notebook document. They are particularly convenient for coding in Python for data analysis, machine learning, or computational science in general.

  • Great app with some forgiveable shortcomings

This is a wonderful app. It provides a very useful Python IDE and works flawlessly when using local files. There are some issues when working with Dropbox, however, as it seems the app doesn’t track changes to Dropbox as you might expect. Changes made on another Mac and reflected in Dropbox are not mirrored directly. Instead a conflicted copy is made. I call this forgiveable because it may be due to iOS itself.
  • Bug makes it Worthless

The app hangs indefinitely when running a simple "hello, world" python script. What a waste ad everything else looks incredible.
  • Unusable

The app is labeled as free with in app purchases on the App Store, however this is untrue. The app is completely unusable without paying for premium. Do not install unless you are willing to sink 25$ into this
  • Nice interface, poor performance

I don’t know who these other reviewers are, but I am not at all impressed. Sure, the interface is pretty, but the performance is so poor that the whole thing is simply unusable. It repeatedly hangs when running even a simple notebook (especially if you switch apps), and integration with external folders is unreliable. It mysteriously deleted a folder in Dropbox, which I then had to recover using my Dropbox account online. It is better with local files (no external linking) but that’s certainly suboptimal. A waste of money, unfortunately.

Really good tool for my need
  • Best python app in the store

It’s stable and easy to use and definitely the best python app in the store after using many. I hope the team can keep up the good work and continue to support the app as they have been. The price is also reasonable as it significantly expands the functionality of iPad for me. I wish more packages can be added, for example pymc, pytorch…
  • What is the point of letting us download an app we can’t use without paying?

  • I’m disappointed

It literally says it’s free but when you wanna run it you gotta pay. Yeah I’m never gonna see this app again
  • No Repl but everything else is good

I miss the repl in the abandoned Pythonista, so for my needs, Juno, which does not include a repl, is mixed bag. Excellent for Jupiter on iOS.
  • Useless download without paid upgrade

I’ve been looking for a reasonable portable environment to do some lightweight Python/Jupyter work on the iPad. Reviews look good, go to download to hoping to be able to try before buy, but nope. The free use of this tool is no different from what you get out of the stock Files app. I would have at least liked to get a feel for how editing with this IDE would have been, but I’m not chancing it on a $25 Pro Upgrade that can’t bother to have any features resembling what’s in the Free app.
