    This used to be my number one app for note taking, pattern writing, and just overall loved this app… then the version 6 came out. You took everything good about your app and put it behind a paywall; then give your worst features for free. Once again capitalistic greed ruins everything. Good luck squeezing money from broke college students. As the title states - ew.

  • Beautiful & Nearly Perfect App

    I've been using Goodnotes for every single one of my classes ever since I started college. The platform is incredibly user-friendly and beautifully designed. The app also offers an array of marvelous tools that have helped me to efficiently take notes and study but the only draw-back is that I can't export my flashcards to PDF. I like going over my study materials by taking practice tests and would love if Goodnotes offered an additional tool to help create tests but since they currently don't offer that I tried exporting my flashcards to create a test elsewhere--that wasn't even available. I have so much content on Goodnotes and would not want to move anywhere else. If Goodnotes could add the option to export PDF or create tests right on their platform, it will definitely be 5 stars in my book!

  • Terrible Update

    I’ve had GN for 5+ years. This update is terrible. It is so clunky and constantly glitches out. Can’t scroll to next page- they’re blank, then the previous one is now blank. The makers made by the one take a long time to show up then they rapidly show in a mess. Constant delays from click or pen use to when the action happens, highlighter, pen, eraser, etc. I use this for everything in my life. Personal notes and work. But when it comes to work stuff, I need it to work immediately, I have to take notes from conversations and I can’t have delays or buffering pauses, no new page ability, etc. Unfortunately, this update is so bad that I’m now having to look for alternatives. I hate that since I’ve spent money on this app over the years, but if it’s not going to work, it leaves me no choice. It’s been several weeks and I’ve seen no bug fixes roll out yet.

    I was skeptical to try Goodnotes for a long time because I am a big believer in using native software (Safari, Apple Notes, Reminders, etc.), but I really wish that I would have tried this app sooner… it is truly amazing. I love that everything is organized into actual notebooks, and it helps me to keep my school notes and thoughts organized in a relavant way, rather than just having folders in folders in folders like my Notes app is.

    I’ve never had a good notes or used it before, I was interested because people talk about it all the time. But there’s no options to create an account, only sign in.

  • Eraser/ Undo Doesnt Work

    That’s the review. The eraser is buggy and lags out. The app is great besides that but I do not see why an essential feature does not work as it should. I wouldn’t feel good spending money on this when this is an issue TBH. Same issue with the undo.

    I used to really love this app and had a great experience for the first year of using it! This semester everything was flipped though. Updates that obviously needed more testing and work done were pushed out and caused me and other students to relearn some parts of the app in the middle of the semester. New framing of the app all in all, that on iPad, made it almost impossible for you to exit out of your first quicknote. Next, we students who have to deal with a lot of things Microsoft, have to navigate a sign in window that does not work when signed out. Oh and by the way, there are random sign out periods so if everything isn’t already backed up you aren’t getting back in and there’s no option to ensure a backup is done before you are forcibly signed out. What does that mean? If your app decides the sign in period has expired and the Microsoft sign in window doesn’t want to work… you’ll have to uninstall and redownload the app. You’ll then notice, POOF! Your whole semester of notes, homework, and exam sheet are just - gone. The last thing I’ll pick on when it comes to not only this app but the company is there is essentially no support. You get a chat bot that’ll recommend forums, FAQ pages, and possible fixes for you. Don’t try to get a person though because you won’t get anywhere. You have to put in a ticket and cross your fingers the person actually knows something about their app. No phone number, no people to talk to as well, no warnings about sign in periods expiring, no reminders you haven’t backed up recently. These events have pushed me away and I am not on OneNote. They have lost my business. For an app that I can pull up on my phone/computer and pulls from cloud data to update changes made on my iPad to not being able to recover any of your lost files… I don’t believe they don’t have any of your data since it is a cloud system. Do yourself a favor and get used to one note and learn how to operate OneNote comfortably. They lost me.

    I tried to use the note feature that looks like a little post it, and when I tried click on a note to delete it it kept making more, I still have not been able to remove all the notes from my work! This feature is NOT user friendly and ruined a page of my notes.

    I have been using this app for years, it got me through nursing school and now CRNA school. It has gone downhill tremendously. Glitchy all the time

  • Deletes notes occasionally

    Overall I like this app, it does however have some technical difficulties that one has to get through. Occasionally, it’ll delete all data from a recent note. It seems long term notes are fine but sometimes it’ll glitch and then everything you wrote for that day will disappear. It’s weird about connecting through the cloud to other devices too, sometimes it doesn’t like to connect and will take several hours while on WiFi to sync. This is one of the better note taking apps, it just crashes sometimes and will delete recent work.
