  • Pay To Win

    By KnavishRex
If I decide to drop a paycheck on this game, then I’d probably be in the top ten players in the game. 0 skill involved. Thought this was gunna be like COD: pure skill and only cosmetic upgrades but was sorely mistaken. Played for a while and have a 2:3 win rate but it’s not worth it to pay towards greedy companies. If you’re looking for a game that tests skill, this is NOT it. I refuse to take part in the trend of paying to be “good” in a game instead of getting actually good. I will make sure to steer anyone I know away from this fiery hot pile of garbage. Gamers won’t stand for this, remember that.
  • Good but…

I like the game and all, but a lot of times some bad connection thing pops up and freezes the game, making it harder to react to things in time. Also, please fix match making. It’s quite frustrating when I’m in a battle and there’s a much higher rank player. Overall though, it’s a fun game just wish that these problems were resolved.

  • Another Good game lost to an over reliance on microtransactions

THIS IS A VERY LONG REVEIW IF YOU WANT THE SUMMARY, SCROLL TO THE END OF THE REVIEW. I used to love this game, and even got pretty far in the rankings, being in the 3rd best rating before I stopped playing. It was a great concept, that was expanded on well, and I preferred it over its competitors because it was faster paced, more polished, and overall just a fun game with friends. As a free to play enjoyer, I loved the early days of this game, as while there were some mechs and weapons that required you to spend real world currency, they were few and far between, and didn’t effect gameplay that much, if at all. That slowly changed, as now all the good weapons and mechs require either an event (which almost always requires either an obscene amount of devotion to the game, or very expensive event-specific currency), or a purchase in the shop. Pay to win players had always existed, but were generally less competent and never an issue in early ranks. When I got to the higher ranks though, it became painfully evident how much this game has always had pay to win mechanics at its center. While I found this mildly annoying, it was not worth quitting, as I still enjoyed the gameplay. My biggest problem, and the metaphorical final nail in the coffin for this game was how nearly all high level mechs are now pay-to-win EXCLUSIVE. It’s one thing to make it an option, but when high level play is locked behind a price point of a couple hundred dollars (as each mech getting leveled up to a reasonable level for rank 3 is about $30 each), that is not worth my time, or my money. I just am not willing to pay that much for a mobile game, or even a console or pc game. This game is by no means unplayable, as I still think it can be fun, so if you want to play it, play it, and develop your own opinion. I still love the concept of a fast paced mech game, and I have not seen it executed better than mech arena in gameplay, but not progression. There have been some notable fan service things that devs did that I really enjoyed, such as controller support, putting it on pc, and the graphics and style overhaul that makes the game look much more serious. I think all of those were great, but not enough for me to stay. More than anything, this game makes me sad, as it seemed to be everything I wanted in a mech game, and I kept hoping for so long that it would make the pay to win mechs and weapons available for natural progression in ye game, but after being continually disappointed, I have lost hope that it will ever change. In summary, This is still a good game gameplay wise, with a great concept, and at first, great execution, but do not be fooled by the free to play disguise, as there is a clear monetary barrier to get to high level play. This monetary barrier can be evident as early as rank 5, and has probably become even worse since I have stopped playing, so I cannot recommend this to anyone anymore.
  • Match making needs a lot of work

    By Lord Toxicon
The game is very fun and skill based, but the match making is really lacking. I feel like if match making its as bad as it is there must not be enough real players to fill the games. As it is most games are filled with bots that are already over powered and if you add players that are 3 or 4 times your level you will not have a good game experience. The AI used for the bots causes them to never miss and always know where you are. Sneak attacks on these bots are not possible because they always know where all players are. This is a pay to win game so keep that in mind if you are thinking this is a game you would like to play. With the premium they put on their equipment it will cost you hundreds to have the best and most powerful weapons in the game. However if they would balance the matches with proper powered players and bots it would help a ton.
