Description

Omada app is used for configuring and managing your Omada devices. You can change settings, monitor the network status and manage clients, all from the convenience of a smart phone or tablet. STANDALONE MODE Standalone mode is designed for managing EAPs or wireless routers right away without having to spend time configuring a controller. Each device is managed separately. This mode is recommended for networks which only have a few EAPs (or wireless routers) and require only basic functions, such as home network. CONTROLLER MODE Controller mode works together with a software Omada Controller or a hardware Cloud Controller, and is suitable for managing multiple devices (including gateways, switches and EAPs) centrally. Controller mode allows you to configure and automatically synchronize unified settings to the devices in the network. Compared to Standalone Mode, more configuration options are available and supports to manage more devices in Controller mode. You can manage devices in Controller mode in two ways: via Local Access or Cloud Access. In Local Access mode, the Omada app can manage devices when the Controller and your mobile device are in the same subnet; in Cloud Access mode, the Omada app can access the Controller across the internet so you can manage your devices wherever you are. Compatibility List: The controller mode currently supports hardware cloud controllers (OC200 V1, OC300 V1), software Omada Controller v3.0.2 and above. (To experience more features support and more stable services, we recommend that you upgrade your controller to a new version). Standalone Mode currently supports the following models (with latest firmware): EAP245 (EU)/(US) V1 EAP225 (EU)/(US) V3/V2/V1 EAP115 (EU)/(US) V4/V2/V1 EAP110 (EU)/(US) V4/V2/V1 EAP225-Outdoor (EU)/(US) V1 EAP110-Outdoor (EU)/(US) V3/V1 EAP115-Wall (EU) V1 EAP225-Wall (EU) V2 ER706W (EU)/(US) V1/V1.6 ER706W-4G (EU)/(US) V1/V1.6 *The latest firmware is required and can be downloaded from https://www.tp-link.com/omada_compatibility_list. More devices supported by the app are coming!

  • Works good but could use more info

I like how the information is laid out. But definitely would like to see more instead of logging into the web based controller each time. Also would like to choose custom icons to better organize the device list.

No way to change primary WAN (ISP currently connected to) from within the app.
  • Great app, but…

It’s missing a ton of advanced config features. I have to go on the clunky and difficult to use admin portal. Please add features like batch config for devices, advanced settings (site and device settings).
  • Decent, but buggy

Interface is easy to use and manage my devices, but the app drops connection to my local controller a lot and always needs to reconnect. Can be frustrating to use and I need to switch over to the full web interface for most features.

Simple and easy to use, can meet all the network management functions I want.

TP-Link continues to improve their product. This review is based on v4.16.24. Convenient new features are released with corresponding controller updates, but some issues persist. Dark mode finally added. Bugs/Issues Include: Not able to set wireless network security to PPSK or modify PPSK profiles. • When creating a wireless network, unable to select “WPA 2 Only” encryption - must select “WPA/WPA2” which is less secure or “WPA2/WPA3-SAE” which some clients don’t support. • List of wireless clients no longer shows which EAP each client is connected to. This is a step backwards! • Client history only includes time and duration - no longer includes dates. This is a step backwards!

I have been selling clients on the Omada system. I’ve been using it long enough to enjoys the updates and how simple it really is to get many antennas setup so quickly. Yes, to do more advanced setups you must use the web browser but that is understandable. Omada has my vote! I am a previous Unifi user that was always wanting a simpler approach for my clients to manage themselves.
  • Unusable with Policy Update

A policy update dropped in which tplink suggests a read before accepting. Problem is the links are broke so you either can’t use the app or have to blindly accept new terms without reading.

Handy app. Would be nice to see wireless device signal strength expressed as dBm, not just yellow/green five bars graphic.
