  • Does Not Work

Windows App is incapable of finding a Windows PC either on the same network, or a different network, using either the PC Hostname or the IP Address. I’m not certain under what conditions this application was tested under, or who believed it functioned prior to publishing it, but it wholesale DOES NOT work in any way whatsoever. Complete waste of time.

Logging in doesn't work half the time and the error messages it gives are useless.
  • Really Useful

Really useful. Allows me to just take one laptop on trips and still do both work and home stuff (keeping them completely separate without the complexity of a VM).

Doesn’t keep track of my USB smart card when using a VDI instance, which means I constantly need to plug and unplug the card to authenticate with it, but otherwise, the app does what it’s supposed to do.

what do you mean I cannot save passwords or have integration with a password manager? now my password is stored in a notes app in clear text. brilliant.

I have no idea what’s happening or how this even works but thanks to this app — and my IT Department — I can work remotely so…?

I will always give this product 1 star if you ask me. I will write a review on the app store if I felt it warrented a comment. Stop asking.
  • Buggy RD to Beta to now Windows App Beta, no version could ever be accused of being stable .

Been using one version or another of MSFT RD on Macs for 10+ years. One thing they have never been is stable. This latest incarnation works OK for a day or so, but if you leave it open longer than that (I’m used to leaving multiple remote machines connected for weeks at a time) almost every action you try to perform on a remote machine triggers a 5-10 second Pinwheel while it thinks (this is on a 2019 Mac Pro running Sequoia 15.2 with 3.5 GHz 8-Core Xeon W, 80GB 2666 DDr4 and Radeon 580X 8GB; Windows App 11.0.8 which is latest available). Only cure is to close the app (many times requiring a Force Quit) and reopening. I keep hoping one of these days there will be a solid and stable Remote Desktop solution for Mac users to connect to multiple Windows machines. Also, what is with the name? What exactly is “Windows App Beta”? At least the old versions had RDP or similar somewhere in their names…this version has me terrified MSFT is going to start shoving more an more things into here further decreasing the functionality that it was originally intended to provide.
