Create a history log for the app

I rated this lower for attention. The app is great but you guys need to create some place where I can find articles that I opened but didn’t get a chance to read before the app refreshed me. It’s too difficult to remember and/or find what I was looking at if I get distracted. Otherwise you’re great, no other notes
App is glitchy if you are reading on the go

The content of the economist is first rate. The app is reasonably designed in many ways. The primary problem I have is that I read in the subway where internet comes and goes. As you read an article it jumps up and down and at almost every station I have re-find my position in the article. I assume this is because it’s loading new ads and shifting the app up and down. This is extremely distracting.
Useless

It’s missing two key features.
One, is if it links from an external site, it won’t actually link. And good luck searching for it. I searched for an article that showed up in a Google search. No way to find it!
Second, it says you’re allowed 1 free article a month. I tried to read my one and only free article. No dice. 1 free article a month unless you’re me.
The only way to use this app is if you’re logged in, have paid, and plan to read the whole thing. Which, considering how expensive a subscription is, might be for the best anyway. Why read this magazine as a casual reader?
Much worse than the old App

This review is of the app, not the magazine. The magazine is excellent.
The app is so much worse than the old one. It reloads constantly, taking me away from the article I’m reading in the weekly publication. There’s not an easy way to jump back to where you are in the weekly. No way to change the settings to default go straight to the weekly.
And wouldn’t you know, the Economist is a WEEKLY publication.
The Best

If I was stranded on a deserted island and had access only to the Economist, I would be totally informed on what is happening around the globe, as well entertained.
Article Sharing Frustration

By Joshinya92
I read The Economist daily. This review is not in regards to the content of The Economist, which is an excellent daily read and a bastion of modern journalism.
The Economist app has an ability to “gift” up to 5 articles a month. Awesome! I love sharing great articles with friends and family. The Economist app states “You can share up to 5 articles a month.”
This is extremely misleading in that as soon as you “gift” the 5th article, a 30 day timer starts.
Sometimes I go weeks or months between “gifting” a good article. It is insanely frustrating to share 4 articles in September, for example, and then share 1 article in December and have the app say “you cannot gift another article for 30 more days!”
Why is my ability to gift articles 5 times a month not a rolling tally based on date instead of amount shared? I hope that by gifting more articles I can get more people to read this bastion of journalism! Please fix this terrible counter system.
This app is trash

Embarrassing De-evolution

This magazine is an embarrassing de evolution of what it used to be! It used to be intelligent, mature, broader, and deeper thinking. Now it appears to be written by hateful, juvenile in intellectuals with a couple years of higher education from one of these psycho institutions that have de-evolved in the United States!
I just read an article about Graham Hancock that was so hateful and shortsighted. It’s embarrassing!
Economist when you support and produce articles like this, you add to the hatred in the world. You add to the lack of creativity, imagination, insight, inquiry, and evolution of mankind! You have put a psychological and intellectual Bekah over your institution and you’re attempting to put it over your readers!
Hire some adults to manage your business. Because anyone with any level of mature intelligence is walking away shaking their heads!
Love the economist

Great content.
NEEDS technical improvements.
-add a page flip option so I don’t have to infinitely scroll when
-sync read status between app on different devices
-add easy way to get private RSS links so I can put them in my own podcast app
-stop pushing the audio I listened to months ago by forcing the bottom play bar back EVERY time I open the app.
Great content, but kind of amazing the app can be this bad

Amazing how many bugs there can be in an app from the journalistic giant The Economist. To take a glaring example, try the back and forward articles buttons. The back button takes you to the previous article rather than the start of the current article, which is weird enough. But completely frustrating is the fact that using the forward button after the back button will first skip to the next article, then the next next article, then to the next next next article. It is actually impossible to listen to the Economist on headphones and page back and forth on articles (e.g. after getting distracted by something) with these limitations. Ideally you’d do what all other magazine apps do and just skip back and forth by 30s at a time, but at the very least don’t make it completely broken.
