If you need a break, solve a crossword puzzle or Name Drop quiz, and flip through a nearly endless supply of cartoons. And, when you’re on the go, save stories to access them on any device, even offline. The app is free to download. Subscribers receive unlimited access. Most current New Yorker subscribers have unlimited access to the app as part of their existing subscription. Subscribers with a print-only subscription may not have unlimited access. App subscribers have full access to the Web site, including the archive and most recent issue. Users who have trouble accessing stories can e-mail apps@newyorker.com for assistance. Non-subscribers may access the app by starting a free trial. A subscription costs $11.99 a month or $119.99 annually, and includes a 7-day free trial, after which it will automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period and will state the cost of renewal. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable. Subscriptions may be managed by the user, and auto-renewal may be turned off by updating the user’s App Store Subscription settings after purchase. Payment will be charged to iTunes account at confirmation of purchase. Information about our Terms of Service & Privacy Policy can be found at http://www.condenast.com/privacy-policy.

  • Great app that has improved over time

Fantastic app. I love that it remembers where I left off in an article so I can put it down and come back to it later. One wish: that you could build a “playlist” of audio articles so that once you finish one it would auto-play the next in your queue

Love the organization of the content and the in depth content of the articles

I have been a subscriber for many years. The previous app allowed me to easily read the print edition online. Open the app and it took you right back to where you stopped reading. Now when I open the app, I have to select the magazine, open the issue I’m reading and select the article - EVERY TIME! I tried going through the customer service online to see if there was some setting I was missing, but it’s obvious that the customer service staff know nothing about the app. No help at all. Why can’t you have a simple app to let me read the magazine? I don’t care a fig for all the bells and whistles. Additional minor irritation: once you open an issue, the order of articles is completely random as opposed to the old app which followed the magazine format.

I really enjoy reading the new yorker on my commute when its possible but it seems whenever I lose service in the subway it insists that I don’t have a subscription. I’m constantly logging in and out to prove the subscription is still active. Losing Connection on the subway seems like something the New Yorker should understand and handle better. I would also love a dark mode to read in the evening while winding down.

  • Good content, bad robot voices

I wish we could filter out the audio read by AI. It sounds horrible and is a disservice to the wonderful (human) writing. Also it’s just tacky
  • Please add a dark mode

Viewing this app is so hard on the eyes! Please add a dark mode like virtually every other news app. 1/7/25 update: Opened the app today and it keeps prompting me to subscribe even though I’m already a paying customer. The website recognizes that I have access, why doesn’t the app? So frustrating. This app is useless.
  • Subscriber recognition error

I liked the old print-like app much better, and I often read on Libby even though I’ve maintained a digital subscription for years. But lately when I open the app, even though it shows me as being logged in, it tells me that there is no subscription associated with this user name. I have to log out, log back in, and it finally lets me access the content. This is really annoying.
  • Lousy website

I have an active digital account but I CANNOT access "The New Yorker" repeatedly today. I could yesterday and did not sign out of my account. There is virtually no customer support.

I love reading this magazine and I have been a subscriber for well over a decade. However, the app has become nearly unusable. It freezes on launch, takes forever to load content, and is an overall very frustrating user experience. It’s a pity.
