Simple UI. Easy to use. Helping me build a habit that I’ve struggled with building.

Has all of the smoothness of a blogging app mixed with the calmness of a journaling app. I love using DayOne and have used it for several years. I use the Mac native app, and it is absolutely the best experience. One of the most common apps I use nearly daily. As beautiful as it is functional.

I’ve been using Day One for more than two decades at this point. It’s the pound for pound champ and continues to be. Worth every penny, IMO.

About to enter my 5th year of using the app EVERY day. The value I get from journaling is in the content I create. Being able to refer back and digitally search is becoming an increasingly important resource in my daily life. Just yesterday, I forgot the name of someone I was going to meet and I searched them in the app (using another reference from that time) and I found a thoughtful detail I made to maintain the connection. There are countless examples like this but the ability to see how patterns in your own life emerge can be another source of value. Although paper based journalling is technically more mindful, the value I get from digital access really pays off. If you were concerned about getting something on paper, you can do so and then capture as image in this digital locker called Day One.

If there is one app I’m okay paying for, it’s this one. If you stop to think about it, you’d have to pay for the notebooks you’d buy every so often, and they’d cost a lot more than this app per year to fill the pages of. So really, this is a ‘steal’ for such a versatile and powerful journaling app.
  • Great App

Now that they’ve added back the HTML embed previews, all is good again so I’m happy to restore my 5 star rating. Please just don’t unceremoniously remove functionality again!

I’m using this for the first time and like what I can do. So far this is looking like I may go full time with it. I don’t have experience with other apps like it, but it is easy and nice to look back at what you have done. We will see how this will go.
